Pinks all out production halted

Charlotte-based Speed has shelved the "Pinks All Out" series, it was announced Tuesday.

Production of new episodes of the grassroots drag racing program has been put on hold. There have been 43 episodes since the program's first, at the Texas Motorplex in 2006. "Pinks All Out" and "Pinks All Outtakes" were spun off from the original "Pinks," which began on Speed in 2005.

Noting the program's success, Hunter Nickell, the Speed president, voiced his appreciation to fans, competitors, track managers, the producers and others.

So look for WBT's arm drop live at next year's nats. LOL.

So why was it stopped? Did it take too much time away from NASCAR news?

good, glad, and hope it stays away. I actually liked drag racing for once when they had the best of 5 runs ( or whatever thye deciede to run) and then just killed it for me when they went to pinks all out.

And how can you call a show Pinks when you no longer race for the pink slip, just money and a toolbox full of NAPA ****? that's why I liked the old show, cause of puting oyur car up for grabs ( thought I believe they had a system where you could get your vehicle back with a predetermined amount of money if you wanted to)

My ability to watch SPEED anymore is almost nadda, except for watching at 3am when a F1 race on the eastbumble**** circuit thats on the other side of the world, or GT1 highlights on Wednesdays ( GO MATECH GT40!!!) and of course, the 24 Le Mans ( woot!)

Now when I turn it on, it's either monster trucks, Pinks all out, or some two dudes showing how to install a supercharger in a 30 minute span. and during racing season, NASCAR, Pinks all out,our two guys showing you how to do a body off restoration in 15 minutes, filling the other 15 minutes with infomercial style selling.

What happened to WRC highlights, DTM highlights, tuner challanger, etc. I miss them not having rights to show ANY NASCAR stuffo n there, made plenty of room for relevent racing series.... SPEED is dead, long live the original SPEED.

I'll give you that. they shouldn't of had any type of negotiation, run what your brung, if you get beat, you get beat, that's how it's supposed to be on the street. If you truely think you have a car that is fast enough to beat the other person.

but how often do they show that, compared to NASCAR news, monster truck racing, or Pinks all out, the ratio is quite big. Like I said, yesterday they had the GT1 highlights, but it's an hour of that compared to 23 hours of the same three things. I undertand racing season is over for most major series, but even in the season, there is little coverage to "interesting" racing series.

That's a whole other headache. I remember when SPEED was Speedvision and they had shows like American Muscle Car, Dream Car Garage, vintage race coverage, and stuff like that. It was quality programming. Not all to my tastes (I'm not a motorcycle guy) but still new. I am sick of hearing about the aerodynamics of Jimmie Johnson's eyebrows and NASCAR drivel. I am also tired of both types of PINKS shows (although I do still enjoy the vid of Rich C dumping that GSX-R. Hey Rich, Would you admit that you were outperformed by this motorcycle?). Barrett-Jackson is also hit or miss. After a while it gets old. I think they need to do some market research to figure out their programming needs.

This ^ and Dream car garage IMO was the closest thing to a proper top gear....Canadian bacon style lol

i loved when they would go to BASF to show off their products.

This X10. I used to be a NASCAR fanatic...then around the same time Dale died, I started losing interest, then again, I felt him and Gordon were Mark Martin's arch enemies.

Barret Jackson was cool for about three years, until it gave car collectors, people who build cars that contain 50% of bondo as body panels, and people with rust buckets behind their houses for the past 20 years a sense that they are sitting on a golden ticket. They make it look as though its the worlds biggest/ fanciest auction, but only because it's seen on TV. Realistically some of those cars are nicely restored, others....meh, the camera can do some neat tricks. Check out some R&M auctions sometimes, it's not uncommon for 7 figure cars over and over again on the block, and boy are those cars hawt hawt hawt.

They need to lessen the NASCAR trend, if they havent noticed by now, the NASCAR scene is dying ( it's own success was it's demise) They need to go back to their grass roots. Show WRC, Dakar ( man I used to stay up late just to watch all that coverage) more endurance racing, hell even boat racing. the SCCA run offs is one of the better shows, Amature racers going at it in so many different type of races. Also bring back Dream car more, I actually like Chop-cut-rebuild, and they should also look into gettign junk yard wars and monster garage re runs lol.

the run offs were one week, and got a day of coverage...the nascar season is 3 races a week 38 weeks a year....and its a cash cow. the people at speed may be enthusiasts, but it is their JOB its how everyone that works there pays their bills. lets not get all starry eyed about how it should be.

The Rolex Historics ( Monterey reunion now) is 3 days long, and what used to show the full races, now is just an hour of highlights..shame cause that's a great thing to witness. Which on a unrelated note, I should post some pics of this year up. Wasent as fun as last year representing Porsche, but non the less awesome to be around all the great drivers and cars. Where else could I sit down with Sir Sterling Moss and have a coffee with him...yeah, changed my life fo sho.

again, YOUR OPINION is that it is a joke, if the majority of the viewing public agreed with you... the shows you want would be on... but they obviously dont. the majority OBVIOUSLY tunes in to all the nascar coverage and the filler crap...

if you've been anywhere else in the country you would realize just how big nascar is. there are people out there that watch round the clock coverage and breaking nascar news. its almost to a religious extent.

That is true, as we all reside up north where it's not as huge. However it is definetly on a slide, as seen in the drop in ticket sales as well as the (larger) drop in overall profit. I went to the first race at Pocono this year and the stands were far from packed, and I turned down box seats to the second race, as it really was a waste of time.

I used to go to the September Dover race since I was 8 years old. I stopped going after 2008. I realized after driving 3 1/2 hours to get to the track, the parking fee, buying the tickets that were $95 a piece almost as soon as I get home from last years race ( when I started going in 1994 they were $35 a seat!!) food, drinks, burning your skin off for 5 1/2 hours in the stand, 2 hours of locked up traffic in the parking lot, and the na 3 1/2 hour drive back If I didn't stay overnight, which is another figure, I realized just how much I could save by sitting home and watching it. I used to love the atmosphere, but with commercialism being shoved down my throat at every turn, it burned me out to no extent.

Yeah, the seat I turned down was $500 regularly (the same seat I was in for the earlier race I did go to). Totally not worth it, especially for Pocono. I left early for the first race and will probably not go again for a while.

SPEED is a complete joke now. I Used to love American Muscle Car and Victory by Design. It was great a few years back. I guess if I liked NASCAR it would be sweet but as they say "If you can turn you're not going fast enough". I don't even like watching Drag Racing when its on ESPN anymore. Way too much importance put on the fuel cars, the series is not what it used to be. In my opinion door cars and Outlaw stuff is way more interesting and fun to watch. I would much rather go to the Shakedown at E-town or Outlaws at Atco rather than the Supernationals.

Social Networks:

I agree that there is a ton of nascar coverage on Speed, if you take the time to look through their programming, there is a lot of other stuff on too. I watch most of the F1 races, the previously mentioned SCCA runoffs, a lot of american le mans series, the australian supercar series, and monster jam in the mornings with my son - among several other shows.

Obviously a national network can't cater to exactly what a few complete diehard drag racing or road racing guys want to see 24 / 7, as they have to pay their bills. Even if NASCAR's overall popularity is down from what it was a few years ago, it's still hugely popular and it's where the greatest majority of advertising dollars are spent in this country.

Here's a list of all the racing series that Speed covers:

* AMA Superbike
* AMA Supercross
* American Le Mans Series (some races shown on local channels)
* ARCA RE/MAX Series
* MSA British Touring Car Championship (1 hour broadcasts in winter)
* FIM Superbike World Championship
* Championship Off Road Racing
* Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge
* FIA Formula One World Championship (4 races per year on Fox)
* Formula D
* German Touring Car Championship (1 hour broadcasts in winter)
* GP2 Series
* IHRA
* Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series
* Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
* Monster Jam
* FIM MotoGP World Championship
* NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
* NASCAR Nationwide Series
* NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (Gatorade Duels at Daytona & Sprint All-Star Race)
* Porsche Racing Series
* Rolex Sports Car Series
* Star Mazda Series
* V8 Supercar Series (Australia)- shown spring to summer in the northern hemisphere
* Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup
* World of Outlaws

But there is something called regional tuning or regional programing where they will have the same network in two places but show something completely different at the same time. For example Nickelodeon i know people who where kidz or have them know this network, in the southern states they still show Blues Clues, Catdog and invader Zim as up here it off the air. I thing nascar needs its own channel like the YES channel something where you can watch cars going around and around for 4 hours then the after race talk for a other 5 hours then the driver interviews lol it just never ends
