Interesting Import vs Domestic Event

http://www.wingedwarrior.net/

the rules for 2007 are set to go up at midnight tonight. the rules for points awarding are changing. basically if you have a car that can show well in both drag and autocross, this is the event for you.
depending on the dates i would like to at least get out to see it. sounds like a great test of some well built cars looking at the past results.

ummm, looking at last years results i see a serious problem. the higheet finishing domestic was in 13th(corvette) and the highest finishing f-body was in 29th. this is no good, someone needs to fix that.

the '07 rules are supposed to go up at midnight. i am interested in seeing what they look like. there are a few cars around here that coudl certainly hang with at least teh acceleration numbers they showed last year.

i jstu looked over the rules as posted last night. what a bunch of horse ****. easily one of the most poorly thought out rules packages i have ever seen in my life.
the description is about bringing out the best street cars, then there are penalties for common bolt-ons. i'm not even talking about power help, they penalize you for having an aftermarket panhard bar!!!!
so much potential and such **** rules. annoys me when people ahve the money and sway to put on a big event and don't know WTF they are doing while we struggle to put together a prize fund.

In your opinion, are the rules setup to help the imports, or do they just suck?

a little of both. the engine and power rules are completely unenforceable unless they have people sit there and pump each car for compression and puff each car for cubes and check each car for a stock tune and cheack each car for stock boost levels......... you get the idea
it also penalizes cars that add things like strut tower braces and such. what about the cars that come with that stuff? gonna make them take it off to level the playing field?
it looks like they started with an SCCA showroom stock rule book and let the kid in the helmet play with it.

so basically it boils down to, whoever has the most money to lie and cheat without it being too visible. not that it sounds like they will know what they are lookin at anyway.

a friend of mine did the import vs. domestic drag race challenge they had at englistown a few years ago and he won that, from what im gathering this is an all around performance event, cornering, straight line etc...

that is the idea of it. but there is no individual winner, they are trying some kind of team scenario.

id rack 55-60something points with my current basic mods... and at 61, it'd put me into the top class. what a lame rule/points structure.
and 15 points more just for being an SS over a z28... gimme a break
