Talking Opening Day Videos From Cecil County Dragway!

Went to Cecil County Dragway last night for their opening night of the 2012 season. It was PACKED. New track surface (concrete) is quite nice! Great work on their part. They didn't have the sensors for the 1/4 mile finished 'til about 9pm, so we ran 8th mile 'til then (blahhh). I only got in 3 runs from 6:45pm 'til about 9:15pm. My runs were as follows:

6:45pm:
R/T: .247
60': 2.365
330': 6.129
1/8: 9.079
MPH: 84.03
1000':
1/4:
MPH:

7:45pm:
R/T: .422
60': 2.283
330': 6.033
1/8: 8.993
MPH: 83.78
1000':
1/4:
MPH:

9:15pm:
R/T: .652
60': 2.227
330': 5.892
1/8: 8.811
MPH: 84.83
1000':
1/4: 13.404
MPH: 107.49

I was spinning in 1st & and 2nd. Still having my usual traction issues. Front tires were at 40 psi cold, the rears at 25 psi cold. I launched from 2000 to 3000 depending on the run.

And here are the videos of myself and some buddies who raced last night (Some GoPro on-board, some with my cell phone)...

I'm running 315/35R17 Nitto NT555 Extreme's. They are great. I need to learn to do a better burnout in the box. That last run I did the longest burnout (1 second or so) and got the best traction. The others I just scrub off the tires with a quick spin/"holeshot".

Yeah I mean try messing with them some more and see what they like but you are losing sooo much off of line which I am sure you are aware of. You could be at least a half second faster, if not a full second.

FWIW I went a full half second faster and exactly 1mph slower than you on a 1.9 60'. Keep playing with the air pressure and def do a bigger burnout. You have 12s in the car for sure with a better launch...

Nice runs! Definitely need to sit on the burnout longer, and I think you should drop the tire pressure a bit more. The length of their shutdown looks so nice haha

The nittos are junk good street tire but don't work very well at the track. I would get a nice set of M/Ts.

Thanks for all the help and info fellers! I definitely can't wait to get back out there and mess with different tire pressures and launches. Friday nights suck for that sort of thing. I'm debating going back to Cecil on Weds night. It's either racing or the Flyers killing Pittsburgh. Tough call!

Going back again tonight. Any other recommendations? I know this car has 12's in it if I can get traction! I started at 25 psi last time for the rear tires... Thinking I should do 20 psi? Or should I go lower...?

Just set it wherever you want and see what gives you the best 60'. If your short times are worse than last time, bring it back up or change launch rpm. Try taking some weight out of the car too, any little bit helps.

I'd go up. Street tires don't hook well aired down. 30 to 34 psi is a good place to start.

Hooking with a heavy vert stock LT1 != hooking with M6 LS1 car.

60' > 1.8 != hooking

I got SOME traction this time at 31 psi, versus the 25 I was at before. Worse times, but my 60' times were better. I'll post up later.

Several local M6 guys are the ones who recommended and have had the best of luck around 25 psi on street tires. I know the vert isn't representative of everything.

My Racers Log. I ran 5 runs last night, but only posted my 2 best (which sucked):
