ticking noise...

i dunno what it is, but a lil while after getting my headers installed my car makes a ticking noise that goes faster as i accelerate.....any ideas?

It could very well be an exhaust leak somewhere....follow the path of the exhaust with the car running and listen for the source.

my 86 has an exhaust leak and makes a tapping noise and it goes faster as your RPMs go up. mine is either at the ypipe or the exhaust manifold... i dunno im gettin long tubes anyway

its a blown header gasket, end of story. replace em and get a copper header gasket, they are nicey.

Take a very close look at the header gaskets all the way around. Look for any damaged areas. Then check where the headers each meet the Y-pipe for leaks there as well.

Its very very very commen for headers to leak and yes, its a tapping/ticking sound that gets louder as the rpms increase and tightening the header bolts down as they tend to loosen as the heads warm up. Good luck

ive read threads with people saying there EGR had a leak and once they fixed that the ticking went away...so maybe that could be it....ive been so busy lately i have no time for my car =[

It is infact the EGR leaking....is there a gasket i have to replace?? how do i go about fixing that.....ooo and to make matters worse the line before the EGR was resting on some water line and now theres a hole and now i have no car and im missing class as we speak. WOOO HOOOOO

napa didnt carry an egr gasket for my car so i bought the "cut-your-own" gasket material and...cut my own
