'99 Z28 ground effects removal...

So I just got a '99 M6 Z28 as partial trade towards another car of mine. I love the car so far, and it's great to get into a 4th gen on top of the 2 3rd gens I own, and the 1 3rd gen my gf owns.

My question is this, it has the stock '99 RS looking ground effects on it. I'm not sure I like them, at least not with the current stance the car has. Something about it just doesn't look the way I want it to. I'm wondering if I pull the ground effects, if there will be any holes that need to be filled. Is the body the same as a regular non-ground effects Z28 otherwise?

I think I might want to an eibach pro-kit, or change the wheels/tires to give it the right look. I don't want to drop it if I don't have to, since it's already pretty low to the ground, and driveways require finess, but dropping it without the ground effects might be ok.

First 4th gen I've owned, so I've got very little body experience when it comes to these.

Any suggestions/oppinions would be appreciated.

There will be holes IIRC, Removed the front/side skirts off and their are two brakes a piece for the front and like four or something on the side on my 98 RS. You either love or hate the kit, I personally think it looks a hell of a lot cleaner without them.

As mentioned above the side skirts on the rockers have rectangle shaped brackets with a hook/lip on top that the side skirts hang on that are riveted on to the rocker panel.
It has been 3 years or so since I removed mine but from what I remember there was 8-12 brackets every 10 or so inches riveted on each side.

I had push tree's sprayed with matching paint to temporarily plug the holes until I had them filled.

The 2 front pieces and rear valance also use just a couple of those same brackets too.

The side skirt is easy to remove if you want to look at the brackets and how many holes you will be looking at.

Well that settles it ! !

Thanks for the opinion. I wouldn't own a camaro without splitters or the gfx, in my opinion it looks much better

They look to plain without them if this camaro.didn't have them I probably would have ended up with a t/a

Well, I guess I'm going to keep them, at least for a little while. Gonna see if I get used to them. Maybe the car will look better with some more agressive wheels and tires. It's got stockers on it now, and they just look to small, and too tucked in the wheel wells.
