2001 Z28 accident restore ( by body shop )

So a few weeks back I just finished putting my 01 Z28 back on the road it was down ... Went down back in August due to a beat clutch ... But with almost 168k it was tired and leaking quite a bit ... Tax time came and pulled out the tired ls1 and dropped in a reman 6.0 drove the car for 3 weeks then the unthinkable happened

So not even 500 miles on the motor this happens and honestly I was prepped for the worst I was sure it was totaled out

So I get the adjuster and I'm quite shocked that he didn't total it right off the bat he actually wrote me out a check for repairs ... They couldn't get all of my parts due to not having much available to them they were going to replace my SS hood with the regular z28 hood which I wasn't too keen on but anything to not total it ... Made a post on here and one of our own ... Adam AKA sweetbmxrider came to the rescue and saved my behind with some parts he was interested in getting off his hands ...

The only thing that I have to eat is my bow tie grille is discontinued of course but hey you can't win them all ... Got a call from the adjuster today telling me the body shop needed more money now I was worried all over again but he told me they authorized the additional repairs... So I was at the shop today and grabbed a few pix where they currently are and I will say that they did an amazing job reconstructing my fender rail

You're very lucky they cut a check and even someone accepted it to work! Its a ****** situation with our cars! Glad everything working out, can't wait to see a finished product!

Thats great news.

I'm guessing anyone that has the bowtie grill wants a fortune for it? Check with V, he parts a lot of cars, maybe he has one sitting around.

My only other suggestion would be to call around to the GM parts distributers and ask. You may get lucky and they will have a left over or two sitting on a shelf somewhere. Only thing is you usually need the part number to get any help from them so make sure you look that up.

Or get the body shop to fill the mount holes for the grill and just go with no grill

Yea for now Adam gave me the stock grille so I'm just gonna throw it in until either I get another bow tie grille or I'm gonna be one of them guys and rebadge my car with SS badges cause they still produce the SS grille ... I'm never planning on selling so to me it don't matter about my rpo codes and if I did ever have to sell I would definitely tell the buyer it wasn't a true SS .... But as of now my quote has topped just about 4500.00

Update

So I stopped in to the bodyshop today on my way to pick up my armada from the dealer they owed me a detail and oil change and they ended up throwing in a brake job for nothing ... But I was like a kid in a candy store at the body shop ... They were preping everything for paint there was a hairline crack in the hood that I knew about and the repair they did looks amazing ... Took a few update shots
Crack in hood

Progress

And the hold up was they couldn't find a fender that they liked the condition it was in so they ordered one new from GM hell I didn't even kno they still produced these lol

I should have it back on mon or Tuesday
