ATCO tonight? (10/13/06)

Checked out the weather, and it looks a little cold but nice. I'll prolly be going tonight with the Eclipse since it got a new tranny. It'll all be about the 87 IROC project though...once it's complete.

Weather:
Between 5 and 10:
Temp 54degrees @ 5pm to 44degress @10pm
Wind: 7ssw @ 5pm to 1 ssw @ 10pm
Humidity: 39%
Pressure: 29.97

HORRIBLE night for me. My SPEC clutch doesn't want to catch when I'm maxing out the gears...it just slips. (Say shift 1 to 2...RPM max at 6200RPM...shift...Only drops to 5500RPM...and just sticks there for a while til I assume it is time to shift again). This is my 2nd SPEC clutch...first one used to be good til 7th run...this one I can't even get a single run. The new tranny only has 26k on it...so I know it's either the clutch or the install (Which Cottman did...so it's a good possibility that it could be either).

I went down atco tonight and there was a nice handful of 4-gen f-bodies and and half dozen or so GTO's......

Cold out that's for sure, but a good time....

I went down on a set of 16" BFG DR's and was hoping for some improved 60' times which would lead me to much improved ET's but didn't master the launch technique and only got three runs......

first run
12.81 @ 107.44 with a 2.022 short time, but I missed 4th??? (how you do that is beyond me). At the 1/8 I was 8.133 @ 91.00.....so there was potential

second run
12.51 @115.31 with a 2.034 short time, nailed all the gears.....At the 1/8 I was 8.192 @ 90.84....still didn't get out of the hole real good....

third and final run
MISSED second or was it third....I don't know, but I did improve the short time with more RPM at launch and and had a 1.95 short time, better...but still not good...

With the kind of MPH I'm putting down I should be able to get a loooow 12 high 11...but I have to get the launch down better.....

maybe next time

Chris

i would say it was the install. what spec clutch is it? i have a stage 3 that i put in myself and love it. 5800 RPM powershifts and it just grabs and grabs and grabs!

Ya, Cottman Transmission in Maple Shade took 3 months to install a diff and CV joint in my Eclipse....then I ended up needing a new trans once they were done. VEry displeased with the service. It's a SPEC stg 2 clutch.

I'm bout to convert the eclipse back to stock anyway (But the V6 headers were the biggest PITA since the engine is sideways)...The LS1 IROC project starts getting money focus in January!
