Spec Clutch question

Ordered my spec stage 2 through tunder racing yesterday, should be here friday. I am going to get my flywheel cut before the end of the week at a local machine shop sonewhere around here.

Question I have is ... what all is included with the clutch. Are the pilot and throwout bearings included? If not, I just checked summit and couldn't find any there.

Anything else I will be needing parts wise?

Thanks,
~Tim

with my spec stage 3,(LS1), it came with a flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate and throwout bearing. i dont think it came with a pilot bearing. at the time it didnt matter for me since there was only 10k miles on the car(stock clutch disc failed). A lot of people complain abotu SPEC, but i had mine from 10k miles to now... with no real issues and i drove my car hard.

yea, people say some things about spec, but they also say things about mcleod, ram, and centerforce. See how this one works out, everyone has their own preferences

Good idea about the tranny mount i replacecd mine with a stocker 2 weeks before i got my new clutch put in first time on the track there goes my brand new 80$ tranny mount lol couldnt find a poly mount at the time and it was so bad that i couldnt shift above 3 grand now im in the same boat again well after i get the dahm car out of the bodyshop.

I like spec clutches, only reason why i didnt get a spec 3 is because of all the threads of them blowing up on ls1tech, id be one of the unlucky ppl that had that happen and lose my feet.

So i bought a centerforce dual friction havent had any problems with it thus far except trying to keep my rear in one piece lol

the reason you see so many of those threads is cause so many people use those clutches. i had a buddy of mine blow his up after 8k but he abused the crap out of it and even blew his tranny before the spec went out. i got a slammin deal on this spec and i was planning on going forced induction so i thought i would need a strong clutch. i am trying to break in the clutch nicely right now and i guess we'll see how it goes from here. if i didnt get the spec i probably would have gotten the centerforce though

I bought a pilot bearing puller and i had the flywheel resurfaced. So i should be good to go.

By the looks of it the problem was in the pressure plate, not the clutch itself. Hopefully you won't have any issues with yours!

You should have ordered a stage 3 or 4. A lot of people make install errors then blam it on the clutch. If you do a search on LS1 tech you will see that every clutch out there sucks.

Actually, no I shouldn't have. The car only makes about 350 to the wheels, and won't be seeing slicks at the track with exception to once or twice. Mainly, it's because my wife is the main driver of this car in question, and I KNOW she won't like the harsh and quick engagement of the three, and a four would be complete overkill.

I chose the Stage II because it's the next step up from a McLeod Single Disk, which was my initial choice.

I can garuntee that my problem was not a install error. It was a defect in te machining of the pressure plate.

Well, just got home from installing the Spec 2 into our purple car (gotta love having a lift on base and a connection to let you in early so you KNOW you'll get the lift). I'm simply amazed. This thing engages so smoothly but with a sharpness that says "Hey, I'm definitely not stock." No chatter, no nothing. I can't wait to break it (and the 4.10's that went in on Friday) in and get to the track.

Yeah, probably the smoothest clutch short of my Street Twin in my other car that I've ever driven. Granted, I've only put about 60 miles on it so far, but it's freaking nice.

It'll probably come apart first time at the track though.

Well, I've got close to a couple hundred miles on it and this thing is amazingly smooth. I'm on pins and needles as to whether or not it's going to hold up, but so far it's been a dream to drive.

keep the spec... it will be great unless its installed incorrectly... what are the chances of getting two duds in a row?
