damn those cylinder heads look like they got alot of cc's in them, how low was your compression ratio with those heads?

GP99GT 05-05-2007 01:41 PM

i dunno, theyre the stock heads...probably 9.0:1 or something

GP99GT 05-05-2007 01:44 PM

Very nice, that's coming along great! I suggest you cover the block up with some heavy-duty plastic trashbags, then clean the strut towers/firewall and paint everything. It's not a lot of work, for a huge improvement in looks under the hood.

GP99GT 05-05-2007 03:22 PM

eh i just wanna drive the car....no time for painting

its so nice out, i wanna enjoy it for the summer

Teds89IROC 05-05-2007 04:02 PM

lookin good, when you call it quits for the day, I suggest spraying inside the cylinders with WD40 to protect them against any form of precipitation/condensation, unless of course you're going balls to the wall and throwing the new heads on tonight

GP99GT 05-05-2007 04:56 PM

hmm good call ted...i cant put the heads on til my studs get here tuesday

DOOO EEEEEEEEET. I might play hookey on Tuesday to do my brakes/shocks on the Jeep, and new fenderwells on the Monte. Gotta see how many sick days I have left for the year first. :)

Teds89IROC 05-05-2007 11:52 PM

all day scraping off head gaskets, what are you using, your thumbnail? pick up one of those plastic scrapers that you put a razor blade in for scraping paint off glass...save you a lot of time

Ian 05-06-2007 12:01 AM

even easier...get a 90* die grinder with a roloc adapter and buzz all that crap off in 2 minutes 8)

And if you don't have air, you can get the one that goes in the end of a drill. I used my drill/roloc wheel to clean the gasket crap off the intake manifold, and it went quick. If you do it with the roloc, just make sure you have a GOOD ShopVac to suck all the dust outta the piston holes.

GP99GT 05-06-2007 09:35 AM

we've got roloc discs at my work, so maybe ill wait til monday or tuesday to get the gaskets off

GP99GT 05-08-2007 08:47 PM

both heads are on...torque wrench is broken so i have to get another one and torque them down still.

Blacdout96 05-09-2007 04:16 PM

GP99GT 05-09-2007 07:42 PM

I was going to say I prefer Crane over Proform

BigAls87Z28 05-09-2007 08:19 PM

Pro Mags, only way to go.
Chromemolly > Aluminum.

GP99GT 05-09-2007 09:30 PM

i ordered ford motorsport pedestals and crane shims...and apparently i was doing it wrong anyway so....yeah

Blacdout96 05-09-2007 09:35 PM

You got aluminum pedestals? FTL on that one, oh well.......at least they look nice....until you putthe valve cover back on

GP99GT 05-14-2007 07:16 PM

k so i took a week off from the car, now im back at it. lower intake is on, fuel rails are bolted back down, electrical connections are made...rockers still need to go on, then valve covers, then upper intake...and then i pray that it runs.

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/4...ress016qp7.jpg

how the car has been sitting for the past few weeks...ugh pollen

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/4...ress018tt3.jpg

and this one goes out to Big Al...yes, i Frammed it before i slammed it. (FRAM filter is only for the first hour or so of running to get all the s*** out of it, then a WIX is going on)
