I used to be all about the speeding and madman driving. Totaled my first car a month after getting my lisc, had 30+ points racked up b4 I was 20, thought I could be smart and get a Va lisc while I was in the Air Force so I could avoid the long arm of NJ...etc etc etc. My last "speed binge" was in the 1996-1998 era, when I was driving a Procharged 94 TA. Lost my lisc more than I had it, and got busted twice for driving on the revoked list. I discovered what it was like to be on a train if I wanted to get any where. I finally wised up, and got myself to prit near 0 points. The last ticket I got was a week after 9-11 happened, and I was in such a daze it really didn't occur to me that I was doing 45 in a 35. Oh well. Now I'm almost a complete opposite. I'm working on max mileage w/ the Cavalier, so I do the limit or maybe even less. I stay in the slow lane, and curse at the azzclowns driving like idiots in the other lanes. But I do have my hypocritical side...I get jazzed when I see a performance car getting it on down the highway. When I drive my AMX I basically just cruise, and if I ever get my T-Type on the road I prolly won't do much nasty street driving with it either. Eventually I'm gonna turn that AMX into as close to a 200 MPH street car as possible, but will prolly just try to truck down to the Maxton mile so I can hit those speeds legally and w/o any bystanders getting hurt if something goes wrong. I'm not gonna preach to anyone about what they do on the road, 'cause I've been max dirty myself. But I hope that maybe someone can learn from my mistakes, and say "Dayum, I don't wanna be there," and wise up on the road.

Like UBG, I've had my share of "glory days" beating the stuffing out of my cars, and, for long stretches, spending more time without a license than with one (although, driving the whole time - equally stupid). Also, like UBG, I got to a point where I realized how completely moronic I was acting, and how I had chosen one of most ridiculous reasons to spend my days "in trouble with the law." Fortunately for me, I managed to come to that realization before I killed myself or someone else. I think (and now I will speak for the board - speculatively anyways) that everyone here is being so hard on you because some of us know what could happen - even on an empty country road - and we don't want to be using pictures of your car to try to keep someone else from hitting a pole and scattering themselves all over some farmland somewhere. You're right. It's ignorance we're talking about. Ignorance in the true sense of a lack of knowledge, understanding, or appreciation about something. The point here, I think, is that you don't seem to fully appreciate the risks. If you do, and you undervalue your life or health so much that you are fine with taking those risks, than have at it. By all means. I don't think we're all so worried that you might take us with you. We're afraid that it would just get too damn depressing around here if you - or any of us - f**ked themselves up just to see if they could hit 130 on the parkway. IMHO, that's just stupid. |
lay off of him guys, people don't learn from others peoples mistakes, they learn from their own. If someone wants to crash at 100mph or more, let them learn their way. Let's just hope they don't take out anyone else, and if they do they will have a substantial amount of time to think about in a nice state sponsored room with 24/7 care.
Most people here love to drive fast and we all learned on our own, so don't take his chance away  After crashing my car at 100mph or so, and having run in with the police, i keep it down to 80-95mph range and it's all good, I learned  |
we just want ya to stick around for a while,if you lose your license ya cant bring that nice car to the show or the local gatherings these guys have every month. we dont want to lose anymore fbody friends! Drive safe dude! We just had a great carshow at Island dragway, some here from this board also meet at Atco, how bout trying a different kind of raceing at the dragstrip? its not easy trying to cut a .002 light! :)

It sucks that you had to lose your lic. for 30 days though...but the brighter end of that is that it could have been longer. Good luck with your driving class and getting the legal end and insurance taken care of. |
I understand where you guys are coming from.
And about the drag strip. Unfortunately, I'm always pressed for money, whether that be for my insurance bill, gas, college (which i now won't be able to enroll in), or to go to the drag strip and race or anything extracurricular. I don't like pushing my car strictly based on the fact that I'll have to buy more gas. So it is rare I even give myself the ok to pump the pedal. At 30 dollars a day at the strip. Rental fees for a helmet (or the purchase of one). And repairs for my car if anything happens as a result from trying to compete. I just can't work with. 2 months ago, I sold my xbox 360 and 4 games, just to pay an insurance bill, and I have a feeling it'll cost a lot more than that trade next month. I'm running out of things to sell. See where I'm going with this? The car is next. Maybe I'll be on NJVespaScooterOA.org in a few months. IDK lol |

so yoru excuses are that you are not a menace to society because you don't do drugs? well, i have family in and around the sparta area, so you are potentially putting their lives at risk. how woudl you like it if some kid came busting around a corner and wiped out part of your family? i am going to guess not too good.
as far as having little money, be prepared. your inability to follow or stay with in reasonable margain of traffic law just made you lose a lot more than a few trips to the track woudl have cost. i don't know what is going on inside your head to think you magically have more control over your vehicle and all the things around it to make this a good idea. all i can tell you is that you are wrong and you better stop before you or someone else ends up dead. btw. i menat arrogance. ignorance is when you don't know something. arrogance is when you think you are better than something. in this case, you think you are better than to have an accident because you can control it. have fun walking. |
take me for instance, whenever i drove down to mexico for the night i would clear 130-140 and come out fine...then as luck would have it, i total the car going 25...sadly it only takes one **** up

If you are that strapped for cash you can't afford to take big risks that can leave you in even worse financial shape. Not worth it, use your head. |

I am the king of points, and living proof that the point system does work, Would of lost my license by the age of 19 but thankfully my father has deep pockets and knows the 'right' people. I am since the beginning of this month down to zero points (now 22). It was hard and brutal to get back to no points and thank god for some PBA cards to help me through it. I agree with Tsar in the fact that any man or women if they want should be able to drive his or her car however they choose as long as it puts no other person in danger. Still today in my TA or on my motorcycle and yes even sometimes in my daily driver (VW Rabbit (haha I know)) I get what I call retarded. But there is always "a time and place" as my motorcycle friends and I constantly say to each other, to stay alive, to keep others alive and to keep our sanity on the roads. And if your caught, don't complain about, you did it, you knew the consequences of doing it and you should pay for it.

oh and... you meant ignorance Quote:
Not once did i say "all you tools don't know how to drive, and if you were me you'd understand why i was driving this way because im better driver than all of you" In fact, I believe if we made the speed limit 98.. and everyone was going 98... there would be a number of fatalities.. EQUAL to the amount of fatalities we have now So, you tell yourself.. do you agree or disagree? Do you think I'm ignorant because of that belief..? No, friend, I am not arrogant. Atleast Not as a driver. And If I have to say this one more time.... I went from 60-98 than back to 60.. ina matter of 5 seconds.. so if you truly believe that ALLLLLL THIS HORROR couldve happened in 5 seconds, and that saturn was aligned with the moon, and a deer was being drawn to some unknown force out on route 15... all in that same 5 seconds.. it is YOU... who is Ignorant now if i was driving 98 the whole stretch... maybe i'd understand your POV |
