damn 11 why so late?

Pro90rscam 07-14-2008 03:00 PM

I also am wondering why 11:00am? All other shows I attend start at 8:00 to 9:00am, why can't this track open earlier?

Re: 2008 East Coast F-body National Car Show

From what I have gathered from the related threads regarding the car show:
  • Car Show is on Sunday August 10, 2008 at Island Dragway
  • Island Dragway Gate Open at 11AM, but get there early !
  • The $25 Car Show fee is paid at Island Dragways gate

Since this will be my first attendance to the 2008 Nationals, I just want to be sure I read everything correctly.

Thanks
Rob

Yes.

Now, here's a question. If there is a class for Best Engineered/Conversion, couldn't a non-F-body with a bunch of parts adapted from F-bodies be allowed to enter in that particular class? That's what Super Chevy used to do; they would allow any Ford streetrod or whatever to enter the show, as long as it was Chevy-powered.

Or would that class only be for something like an LTx or LSx-converted 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen?

Primary general show rule is it must be an f-body car. Sorry Steve, you're out.

But I'll let you look at the T56 in my 77. :)

I figured as much, but it was worth a shot. ;)

Cool! I'll have to check my wife's work schedule; if she's off, I may come up to hang out with the StreetJeep.

Classes sound good but as I mentioned after last year, the 4th gens might want to be broken up into the LS1 and LT1 group. Seemed to be a good idea when I mentioned it back when but guess it didn't make it into the mix.

Pro90rscam 07-31-2008 07:36 PM

I want to know if the show on Sunday Aug.10th will be held even if it rains or will the event be postponed? There is no raindate for this event correct?

edpontiac91 07-31-2008 09:20 PM

Last year it took FOREVER to get INTO the show due to one MAIN REASON. The girls at the entrance who were taking the money were BULL****TING:rofl: with every guy that was coming in. This was told to me by the guards on the little bridge just before the gates. I had mentioned this awhile ago and I was told it would be looked into. It's no fun sitting in 90 degree heat, waiting on a single lane road, in the middle of nowhere for over an HOUR just because we can't speed up the process of paying to get into the show. Also I brought up the fact that it was like parking in the middle of a hay field because the show area was not mowed at all. Can someone get this information to Island Dragway before next week:?:

I agree, with a line that long I hope that they keep the cars moving at a good pace to get in. I myself do not want to wait in a long line due to the fact that I will be driving my car from just outside of Philly and it will be running hot enough when I get there and I sure to do want to sit in line and overheat due to people shooting the **** while entering the track. I would not worry too much if my car was trailered, but it is not and I drive the car to all show events.

BonzoHansen 08-01-2008 03:25 PM

The track has promised they will do the best they can. It is out of our control.

At this time there is no rain date scheduled. If this becomes a concern we will see what we can accomplish.

Crash the local bar.

... at 11am. 8-)

camaroracer1992 08-02-2008 12:35 PM

one more thing to add about waiting in line is the old lady at the gate that you pay at. OMG she needs a calculator or something to do the math.......

LTb1ow 08-04-2008 08:47 AM

And what if you car doesn't idle well... stop and go traffic = bad news.

crainholio 08-04-2008 10:25 AM

If there was a show class for "Freshest Loctite" I'd be a contender this year.

My trans is undergoing a righteous buildup & getting a mix of GTO and Vette components (bigger mainshaft and gears, nicer synchros/blockers) plus the usual hi-po pieces like billet keys and bronze shifter fork pads.

Pic showing the relative sizes of the LS1 T56 mainshaft (top) versus the C5 T56 piece (bottom):

Pics of the ongoing build are at:

The trans comes back on Friday, goes in Fri night and Saturday. Sat evening cruise to the Chatterbox is my shakedown, and Island on Sunday is break-in mileage.

The guy who's building it is coming also, look for the black IROC with the evil sounding big-cube TPI engine.

edpontiac91 08-06-2008 07:34 PM

If they are NOT going to open the track up until 11:00 am, that is going to cause a LOOOOOOOOONG:rofl: waiting time for cars in back of the pack. What if you get there around 10:00, and there is a line, then they open at 11:00, you might not get on the show field until 12:00. That's at least a 2 hour possible wait. If you get there early(say 9:00)you are still going to have a TWO HOUR wait just to have Island let us in! What's the harm in letting us in early(say 10:00) to at least set up our show cars? It's not like they can have TWO LANES of cars moving up to the gate, it could be like last year and take forever. :-?
