Ah if they made the 140 Rear/midmount and RWD, ahhh
But as is i would drive it, and i prefer my RWD vehicles.

I too love the idea of the 130R, More to work on, but i like the direction.

I also read that they asked younger people what they wanted, which said a modern muscle, with functionality blah blah, hence the fender flares and long hood. about how tall is the 130R? comparable to a 4th gen?

Not the name plate but the z26 RPO from the late 60's!

They didn't say "upright" car...use your brain. They look at cars like the 1 series. Most RWD coupes are tough to look out of, so they wanted something that was a bit more functional, hence the tall and more open greenhouse.
First people say Camaro is too tough to look out of, but realize that if Camaro team listened to people like that, the 5th gen could have been similar to this.

54.7 inches. 4th gen is 51.2 inches.

Elements are actually pretty cool cars. If they were maybe a little taller and a little less ugly, I'd be into it. Nothing like hosing out your interior and nothing happening 8-)

Am i just connecting imaginary dots or could 130R be the basis of the new Camaro?

Alpha Platform
Shares the same wheelbase as the ATS
RWD
2+2 Seating coupe
Starting under $25,000
Is apparently a little taller than 4th gens
Appears to be MUCH lighter which was one of the biggest concerns with the new Camaro (as well as blind spots)

sweetbmxrider 01-12-2012 10:06 AM

I think you are referring to the new pontiac

The Code 130R is about a foot off what the 6th gen will be, and maybe another half-foot wider. Height is similar.

As for the Pontiac jokes, you have no idea how right you are.....if this was 2007.

WiMiMc 01-12-2012 10:56 PM

Considering them saying the ATS @ ~3,400 lbs, any lukewarm ballpark ideas of what the Code130R or 6th gen Camaro will weigh in at?

BigAls87Z28 01-12-2012 11:29 PM

There was no weight listed for the 130R, but much smaller engine, smaller overall dimensions, I would venture that a car, in production trim, could be anywhere from 2900-3100lbs.

Turbo 4 6th gen Camaro will probably be around 3400lbs with V6 at 3500 and V8 3600lbs.

Will there be an n/a v6 option for cost purpose?

You crazy with those weights pal.

LTb1ow 01-13-2012 07:19 AM

They be 4th gen weights, how did they make a barge weigh that little? Do the bilge pumps and oars come optional now?

New Pontiac Fiero?

I can't see it being cost effective to come out with anther mid-ship engined car anytime soon. I still dream of owning a 1988 Fiero GT.

Yeah probably not but it would be awesome. I also have wanted one of those with the hatch glass mod. That and the 1990 Fiero GT prototype

Shame that never became a reality, but it still would of been watered down in production, can't have it beating the Corvette flagship, for a portion of the price.

I know, though if i'm not mistaken, they got some inspiration for the 4th gens from the GT prototype

Wow, you should work for GMI since you have seen the 6th gen Camaro and know that it will be a barge, but only in physical dimensions, and not in actual weight. Please, do tell us more!
