Looks to be 3D printed ABS. you can sand down the surfaces and paint it to smooth out the texture for decals

So after realizing my parents do not have a floor jack, quick trip to chinaland and snagged a HF jack.
Started the list of small odds & ends, new clear turn signal housings to replace my heavily tinted factories. https://i.imgur.com/73sxmf9l.jpg Been messing around with the dash, feel like I am succumbing to way to much data being shown and not enough large gauges for important stuff. https://i.imgur.com/p63gX1Al.jpg And on that topic, more sensors. Finally going to log oil temps, and I wanted an ambient air temp sensor to see how IC is doing efficiency wise. Third sensor is a pressure sensor for dome pressure on wastegate. Thats installed and finally can get to ramping in boost. https://i.imgur.com/iliv8cvl.jpg |
Looks good, whens it hit the track??

good progress. I am curious to see how you like watching the digital dash as you are driving and on the road. To me, I never looked into it because it seems too complicated for a block-head guy like me and I seem to prefer watching needles swoop across gauge faces, but it looks like you can cram a lot of gauges/info into that screen.
The oil temp gauge is a good idea especially for you turbo guys.... just make sure you aren't 3 quarts low ! just joking! |

Yea, I am both curious and terrified of what my normal oil temps are going to be. Getting crimpers today and should be able to wire in the new sensors hopefully. Gonna work on my cold start this Friday with the tuner since we I got it started over the summer we couldn't work on sub 70* stuff. |

Got the driveshaft in after some humorous attempts at swapping yokes with Kirk.
Got the turn signals working on the holley dash and got my oil & air temps working. Also managed to get my fuel level on the holley. Feeling super fancy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cImp...channel=lts1ow |

Drove it around today and oil temps sat at ~190* which I think is too low?
|
Nah, 190 oil temp is fine. That'll still cook off water and fuel.
|
That is fine.
|
|
You're good.
Oil starts to break down at ~240F. So unless you're hot lapping it, I don't think you'll ever hit that. |
That's a whole lot of great info you won't be looking at. Figured you'd be pulling more vacuum at idle.

So, car made it down to the Pal Perf Shop and back with no issues on Weds. ~40 miles of no overheating or anything.
Annnnd then my luck expired.. had planned on getting the axle back exhaust finally fabbed up but only made it a block or two before overheating motor status. Pulled it over, bypassed relay/fuse and manually forced EWP on. When I nursed it home started here.. https://i.imgur.com/U04fxEOm.jpg Its hard to tell from picture, but braided SS line rubbed EWP wires and shorted EWP and blew fuse. https://i.imgur.com/aTrdW5em.jpg Which then spiraled.. https://i.imgur.com/2bkJIohm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SsaNWtwm.jpg And cumulated with this. https://i.imgur.com/NZE9pDjm.jpg Cars are fun! |
oh jeez. the braided line just rubbed through the insulation of the water pump wires? simply just too much vibration or everything not zip-tied down I guess?
how hot did it get? |
Yea, not sure what led to the wires and the hose chafing but that will be fixed. I am hoping EWP is fine, but gonna keep a close eye on on that area.
Temps did not get above 205-210 area, so not terrible, caught it quick enough. Struggle now is when I was messing with that braided hose it decided to spring a leak. Hence the kitty litter. But, lower coolant hose is replaced and I trimmed the new one to pull it closer to rad and away from the hotside. |
