/facepalm at a local dealer
So I'm driving home from a car show last night with a friend....we pass Faulkner Buick/-Pontiac and what's outside? A red 88 GTA. I make a quick U-turn and check it out.
So we walk up to it....it's definitely a 20-footer at night  Wing is all chewed up like a chipmunk decided it was dinner time. Doors are wavy. Interior looked decent, digital dash. There are advertisements saying it's a 350 all over the window sticker, on the tag etc...the f'in VIN shows a 305. So it's an 305/auto/ttop/digital dash w/over 100K on it and a below average body..asking price? $5K  WTF are people thinking? I seriously hope someone doesn't overpay for a 305 they think is a 350(unless it was swapped in....) I bet that car sits for a long while. OK, move along...just another mindless post by yours truly  |
maybe its a transformer? the kid in the movie paid 4k for a 79 camaro

With the closing of Pontiac most of the leftover vehicles held their price and were sold, rather than got discounted to move the inventory. It's like a fire sale without the discounts.
Older Pontiacs are being marked up simply because the brand has been shut down. Regardless of what we would consider market price, dealers and even some owners, are jumping on the "Pontiac is no more" bandwagon and inflating their prices. It sucks, but thats the market now. I may be one of three people on the planet that really likes 3rd gen 'birds, so seeing prices like that are upsetting looking at it from a buyers perspective. But if the sellers can get the money, more power to them. Inflate the market for a time to create value and demand. There are lots of places to get replacement parts, so easy to bring the 3rd gens back to showroom condition. Kinda funny when you look at the selling prices of 69 TAs which have swung all over the place the last 3 years from the 60k's up past 130k. They can't stay stable. |
some will pay atleast 4k for it
