odometer stopped

I just realized my odometer stopped working. The trip odometer and speedometer is still working fine so I guess it's something directly related to the odometer. I searched the forums but could not find too much info about what is wrong and how to fix. Any advice or fixes?

That is a gremlin that pops up on a lot on some Birds. My odometer and trip odometer stops working when the car sits for awhile. Who the hell knows what triggers it, but when I start to drive (and play with the trip button) it just starts to work again. I have been looking into having it fixed (there must be a dozen small gears inside) and most repair shops want the unit taken out to see what it needs first. This is NOT a job for the average person, due to the watch like inhards. LOL

I just noticed tonight it started working again then stopped after registering 4 miles.

I bought a used gauge cluster off e-bay and my plan was to swap it out with my old one but the one I bought was a little beat up. So I removed and swapped the odometer/trip assembly which contains the gears, motor and rotating numbers. It also has a wire connector which plugs into the pc board. The odometer still did not work so then I replaced the pc board. Problem solved. There must be an electronic component that goes over time.
