i just got a careless driving tocket anyone here know the latest on these as in fine and points?

V 11-10-2012 11:37 PM

2 points and between $85 and $200. Insurance goes up too most likely.

rickyd13 11-10-2012 11:49 PM

ohh wonderful is it true you can do a payment instead of points?

Stevoone 11-10-2012 11:59 PM

It's been awhile but I got a careless about 8 years ago. Went to court (by myself with a clean record) and walked out with no points but about $450 fines/fees.

spina74 11-11-2012 12:19 AM

downgrade to unsafe driving no points

redsoxsstink 11-11-2012 12:30 AM

go the DMV's website they will give you all the details on violations.try and go to court and get it changed to unsafe driving, its gonna cost about $600 but eliminate points and insurance upcharges. this will only work if you havent done this already and dont already have alot of points. if you already have one or both get a lawyer and pray

OG 11-11-2012 05:42 AM

In one sentence too. I've been doing these breathing exercises and want to see if they really work.

greenformula92 11-11-2012 09:54 AM

Yeah he cut you a break. He could have given you a 25 or more over the speed limit. Last I checked that's a 400 or 500 dollar fine and automatic 6 months loss of license

You should be loving life, cause you got a major gift there.

Life being roygh cause of your poor choice, is well, your own damn fault.

rickyd13 11-11-2012 10:02 AM

still a few hundred and point now insurance goes up and all

madness410 11-11-2012 10:17 AM

they are all right he did cut you a break. he should have nailed you more because obviously you are not taking responsibility for your mistake.

The_Bishop 11-11-2012 10:25 AM

You could be facing a mandatory 6 months with no license, so it beats walking.

You really have no one to complain to buy yourself. I doubt you will find any sympathy in the replies here

LTb1ow 11-11-2012 11:22 AM

Join the armed services, not have a car registered in your name for a few years and stop whining

Jersey Mike 11-11-2012 11:26 AM

Call & set up a court date to go in & plea not guilty.
Talk to the prosecutor & he'll most likely knock it down to Unsafe Driving, which is no points but a $420 fine + court fees (roughly $30). If you've been found guilty of Unsafe Driving within the last 5 years, though, it will be an additional $100.

For reference, in New Jersey, it takes 1 year to erase 3 points off your license.

Good luck with your decision & court date.

madness410 11-11-2012 11:38 AM

'most likely' is the key word. not all municipal courts allow people to do that.
