Video's @ Cecil: My Trans Am vs. Camaro SS & BMW 745
So all my prior cars that I have tracked have been auto's. Easy as heck to do a burnout in them of course. Different story in a manual I found out. I can do burnouts fine away from the track, but it seems the traction at the track kills me with doing burnouts there. I'll just try sitting in the water box next time I guess? This was down at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, MD on Friday. I've never seen so few cars there in my life. It was like we rented out the track. You could basically run as many times as you wanted to. Temps in the high 80's with 55%+ humidity and threat of t-storms kept people away. My alternator decided to go so I was running on battery power for most of the runs.
I ran everything from an LS1 powered AMX (running 12.0's all night long), to a BMW, 1st Gen Camaro SS, 5th Gen Camaro SS, and more. This is my buddy/co-worker's 5th Gen SS with my TA behind it (Crappy cell shot): http://pafirefighter11.smugmug.com/A...MAG0517-XL.jpg First race is against a 1st Gen Camaro SS (I ran a 13.6@105 and the SS ran a 14.0@101): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH50KRLvCdk 2nd race is against a late 2010-ish BMW 745 (I ran a 13.8@105 and he ran a 15.2@94): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IXrIncFk_Q More vids to come when I feel like uploading 'em :) |
Awesome camera work, feels like i'm sitting with you while making a pass. Definitely sounds like a badass night, jealous.

Nice runs, what camera are you using? The video looks great.

Thanks! It's a GoPro Hero HD camera. I recorded these ones in 720p, but YouTube default is lower so you have to physically change it. It does 1080 as well!

I was updated on the SS being a 2nd gen but too lazy to change it lol. I have the suction cup mount on the passenger side window. |

Thanks much! I haven't had 'er over in Jersey yet, so far just PA and MD. We'll see how the summer season plays out.

Explain power shifting please. On my last run I shifted by holding down the gas, pushing in the clutch, and physically moving the shifter - did not take my foot off the gas. Worked very well. Is that said power shifting? I feel like a damn newb haha.
Oh and here's an exterior video of me racing my buddies 2010 SS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC4y3IvP5k0 |

Thanks much, Bill. I'll check it out!
Edit: Very nice read. I was told by a buddy at the track to try it. So I did. It worked very well and I really enjoyed it. I only tried it once as I decided to leave after that run. Any recommendation on tire pressure for street tires? I dropped down to 28 PSI and still got sideways once, launching between 2200-3000 RPM. |
now this is some powershifting... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSyrw...eature=related

Thanks again. I can't wait to get my dyno tune and get back to the track!
