Just sayin whats up!

Good job on the site guys, I've been waiting for a good NJ club to get started! I live in Lakewood right off route 70 if anyone is wondering. I'll try to get to the meets and hangouts regularly so keep us all posted on whats going down! BTW, if any of the admins need help maintaining the site, I work as a multimedia developer and would love to give a hand where needed! :D

Little G 08-10-2004 01:29 PM

Welcome, good to have you. I'm sure the admins could use your expertise, nice demo site BTW.

Welcome to the club!

I am the geek that handles all the web-based stuff for the club, so I'll keep your name in mind if any issues arise.

Sounds like you have a nice car, and with that mph I'm sure you'll be well into the 12's when you get some traction :burnout:

Yea, traction...thats the biggest problem! I should probably attack the suspension next, but I want a set of longtube headers first! I'll be givin Cartek a call shortly to get scheduled in for the install/tune. If anyone is interested in my predator tuner I will entertain any offers

Yea, definetley keep me in mind if you have any questions or need any design or code help. I can make some nice flash stuff for the site!

Bill = Foff667 And the post is in reference to Cartek tuning. Bill can explain his story if you haven't already seen it on LS1Tech or one of the other forums that Bill posts on.

Thanks Tim...if you need me, give me a shout. :)

kmf_82 08-10-2004 03:15 PM

wow, thats a crazy thread there! From everyone else I've talked to, their experience with cartek have been good ones :( I just had a friend get his 97 trans am (LT1) dyno tuned there and had great results.

NJSPEEDER 08-10-2004 03:48 PM

bill really did prove that the best tune is one you do yourself. hptuners and an old laptop has his car runnign great. there is a ton of support from the hp tuners site.
the software costs less than a single trip to nearly any dyno tuner and you still have the ability to make adjustments to take advantage of future upgrades.

welcome to the club!
I heard good and bad stories about Cartek, but good thing I dont have an LS1. I got my own laptop and my own software. 8)

kmf_82 08-11-2004 08:04 AM

I thought about doing it all myself, but this car is my baby and I'd rather have someone who knows what they are doing tune the car. I don't have much experience with it (I'm sure I could learn), but I'd rather learn on a car I didn't care as much about in case I messed something up. It would be a rather costly mistake if I did!

On a side note, I've been getting price quotes from a few different shops in the area and some only like to install certain brands of LT's. I've contacted Rapid Motorsports as well, and they have some excellent pricing, and from what I hear do excellent quality work. The only downside is that they are roughly 2 hours away from me. On the other hand Cartek is about a 40 min drive away.

NJSPEEDER 08-11-2004 03:53 PM

we know how to do long tubes, right bill :)
exhaust is easy work if you wanna save a few bucks and get into it on your own or with a few experienced helpers around.
if you wanna go to a shop rapid is a very good one. their prices are overall very fair adn i have always heard good things about them.

headers are very easy...i did 95% of my install on my own...needed help puttin on the ypipe & putting the egr back on but everything else i did on my own on new years eve & fired it up new years day, there really isnt much to tuning and i could probably guide you through 99% of it. If you already havent check out the thread i started about the hooters meet...im sure your close and i could run you through what i could help you with or what you SHOULD do.

I just saw the thread, I'm pretty sure I will be able to make that. I dont have work the next morning and I could just leave straight from work Thurs night. I work right on Alexander Road in princeton, so Route 1 is right down the road. Your talking about the Hooters in Mercer Mall right?

Anyway, I might take you up on that offer about the help for the install. Problem is, I dont have access to a lift and I don't have a driveway with enough room to work on the car. The parking area in front of my apartment isn't very big and gets filled up quickly. I may be able to park it in my brothers driveway for it, but even then I think i would need an experienced hand to help out. I'll keep you updated about next week so hopefully we can chat. Thanks for the help Bill.
