I might take a ride up to check out Chris's firebird
i don't think chri's firebird has a motor installed.
oh sweet. that might be cool to watch
its "OK" to watch but its really a participation event. do it!
maybe. my car is heavy and ive never done it before lol
all of our cars are heavy!! thats why god created F stock class!
or ESP (E street prepared). |
Don't worry about car prep or skill level, or really even what class you would be in for that matter. If you are interested in high performance driving autocross is a great way to get your feet wet. Its small scale and comparatively low speed (typical courses you will sit in 2nd gear all the ay through) with no competitors or other things to worry about contact. NNJ, as any SCCA region, will have plenty of guys around that can ride along with you and offer advice.
Just show up, bring your helmet, and plan to have fun. Getting started in autocross is really that simple. -Tim |
I'll have to add this to my calendar. I am definitely interested.
just bought hankook R-S3's (version 2) 275/35/18
just bought strano hollow 35mm front bar :)
Is there a good torque arm on the car yet? For the small space, point and squirt nature of solo racing I found that to be the biggest single improvement other than tires to help the car from center off.
Are you running ESP or Street Modified? -Tim |
F street stock as GM intended!
With a strano sway bar? Update/backdate would allow for swapping any sway bar with in the generation but I thought as soon as you go aftermarket you go out of stock class and into an SP/SM category.
-Tim |
stock class allows 1 sway bar to be replaced (either a front or a back but not both).
you can also increase diamter 1 inch (so i ditched the 17x9's in favor of 18x9's). You can change the cat-back exhaust and air filter (air box must remain stock). no other changes allowed in stock class. Tires must be 160 treadwear but next year goes to 200. |
so with my mods what would I be in? haha ive got nitto NT05s
i'm not sure. there is some street tire class that you'd probably fit into. STU or something like that. Let me look around...

I should be there if I can get someone to give me a hand with my brakes before then!
I may try to make this, been a few years for me as well

Chance of rain is 40% throughout the day. You guys still going?
If you get the chance to try autocross in the wet take it. It's so much fun.
