i wouldn't consider getting into your car close to midnight, to clear your head a cruise. especially at excessive speed. you're lucky all you got was a ticket and not a trip to the ER.

high speed + mental anguish = problems
(especially for a whippersnapper)

i post from my phone 99% of the time

OG-didnt mean for it to be high speed if thats what is is now? should we all drive a prius

Lt1_8U 11-13-2012 07:02 AM

You were driving at a much higher rate of speed than the posted limit. Yes it was a high rate of speed. You 100% got off easy. Remember an officer has discretion, meaning he can get you for everything he can think of or not give you a ticket. Based upon what your actions were you got off with a slap on the wrist. Trust me, he could have written you at least 15 tickets. You have no idea what you can be ticketed for

rickyd13 11-13-2012 07:13 AM

true

sweetbmxrider 11-13-2012 07:16 AM

And now priuses are slow?

Blackbirdws6 11-13-2012 07:19 AM

Most Prius (plural?) I see on the road are traveling well beyond the speed limit. I don't think I've seen one hypermiler in the tri-state area with one of those.

OG 11-13-2012 07:26 AM

you can still get killed driving wreckless in a prius...

No one said being smart was a prerequisite to being hip.

Cides the faster they go, the cooler the explosion of battery acid.

Rickey, a few of us are older, fatter, balder and usually wiser. Dont always take our responses as a attack on you personally. You ask, we answer.

:kneeslap: LIKE!

as everyone else has stated, just take this as a lesson and learn from it. You didn't harm anyone or yourself and you got off easy as far as tickets are concerned.

50% over the posted speed is most deffinatly a high speed

k_garretson23 11-13-2012 10:32 AM

He cut you a break. I have court tomorrow for 79 in a 50. 25 over is automatically reckless which is 4 points I believe every additional 5 over is another point. I have no priors but have a lawyer and Im looking at a a couple paychecks worth of fines and HOPEFULLY now points but thats up to the judge.

WayFast84 11-13-2012 11:41 AM

It's not that big of a deal. Yes he was speeding but I'm pretty sure everyone who drives on the parkway could get a ticket for going 27 over. There are parts with a 45mph speed limit, and If someone was to actually do 45mph it would probably be more dangerous than going 27 over.

Another thing. How easy is it to be driving on a highway and look down at the speedo and see you're doing 80mph? Hell, on 300+ mile trips I've looked down and I had been doing 90.

Learn from the mistake, pay the fines, buy a radar detector and use cruise control if you have it. Now everyone stop condemning the kid like you've never made a mistake.

Mike 11-13-2012 11:55 AM

No one has really told him to slow down. The responses were more along the lines of. "You did it, stop bitching and own it now"

sweetbmxrider 11-13-2012 12:20 PM

I find it damn near impossible to do anything but stare directly out the left side of the windshield when I am on the parkway. All the driving straight and turning slightly requires absolute attention so as to not cause a chain reaction in the traffic flow and begin what most would consider World War III.

This is where being a girl has some benefits. Never get tickets with points... lol kidding (kind of).

That worked a lot better before a female got let off without a ticket and turned around and sued the officer for discriminating her. Stating he did not give her a ticket because she was a female. Everyone wants a payday! (Not the candy bar)

rickyd13 11-18-2012 08:53 AM

Exactly i know i gt caught and goda pay but who hasnt done 80+ on the parkway
