need new tires, I know nothing about tires though!

i only need a new set of rear tires, they wear out alot faster in the rear for some reason..... anyway, i have 17x11 zr1 rims, and the tires are Sumitomo 315 35 zr17, i really like the larger size tire, but i'd rather have a nicer set with better traction, maybe bfg or nitto, but i can't seem to find the right size becasue i'm clueless about tires! I don't want to go with Sumitomo again becasue they aren't to good, when the shift kit slams into second gear i start fishtailing even in dry weather, in the rain its alot harder. anyone have an suggestions where i can get some tires?

BF Goodrich Drag Radials - they won't last long on the street, but your traction problem will be solved :)

Nitto 555R - also comes in a 315/35/17:

i like the bfg tires, would there be any clearance issues, they look taller then the sumitomos i have.

No, that's just a generic pic of them mounted. The BFGs will be the same size as your current tire.

About the whole wearing faster than the fronts... have you rotated them ever?

LT!freak94 07-28-2005 11:57 PM

dude go for the firestone fuzion zr1 i have had them for a while now and they grip up so good even in the rain i only have 265 all the way around dude they are really nice thats what i would go for

sleeperMULLET 07-29-2005 05:04 PM

i can't rotate, fronts are 17x9's, rears are 17x11's and one way treads, i'm really liking the nitto 555, i know this is a stupid question but what does 315, 305, 265 and all those sizes mean, is that the width? I have 315's but what is the smallest that can go on a 17x11 rim? thanks for all the input, i'm going to need a good set of tires to go with the new gears.
I'm going to a school called wyotech right outside of pittsburg and i think i will be taking to car to the local track alot, i need to show those ricers whose boss!

315 305 265 that would be the width of the tire in milimeters.

Savage_Messiah 07-30-2005 02:41 PM

first number is the width in MM, 2nd number is the height of the tire in percent of the width, and 3rd number is wheel size
