Cat Went Bad, Time For The Header Project, Need Opinions
Well I was hoping to wait till I parked my car for the winter to do the header project but my rear cat decided to take a dump on me causing my car to run like crap, there is no point in replacing it so I'm just going to do my headers now.
I found a great deal on brand new pacesetter ceramic coated long tubes (non-emissions) with an off-road y-pipe for $520 with shipping. So I'm going to go with them. Now I know that the gaskets and bolts that they give you aren't the best quality so I was thinking of getting the fel-pro gaskets and the stage 8 locking header bolts. Do you guys recommend me using something else? After I get all of this done and in I am going to send my PCM out to pcmforless to have it tuned with the new exhaust set-up. Also while I'm in there I want to do plugs and wires and my opti. I'm going to go with the MSD opti but what do you reccommend I use for plugs and wires? Any help and or advice is appreciated. Thanks. ,Nick |
use the earls exhaust manifold gasket, you need the one for "D" ports, i've used felpro and mr. gasket on my Pacesetters and the bolts always came loose. Ever since I put on the earls i never had to tighten them.
With my stock heads I used NGK TR55s and Taylor 8.8 wire set, never had a problem at all. now about the MSD opti, if you go over to cz28.com and do a search, very few people have had sucess with it. |
i run 1" arp bolts iirc and am currently using the copper gaskets that come with the headers without a problem
the rest of the hardware isnt a problem. as for the opti, just keep it factory but loctite the rotor screws in. the taylor 8mm otvc wire loom/wires are quality |
