The Fixer 02-11-2007 09:08 AM

Hmmmm.........got me thinking about it now. I wonder how dark they look at night though?

maroman88 02-11-2007 09:50 AM

i wash thinkin of that but blackouts are much easier lol. and my other car is red so all red ftw

NJSPEEDER 02-11-2007 10:14 AM

the one thing about blackouts is that cops are a lot more likely to give you a ticket for them if you are pulled over. you are really not allowed to alter or cover any light lense on the car.
the advantage of the spray on stuff is that you can do it on the inside of the lense and just tell the cop that they are factory. odds are he isn't going to know and it will avoid the hassle and ticket you are more likley to get with a snap on cover. :)

tint the lense and use an LED conversion then. it wil be plenty bright

I'm pretty much doing the same thing to a spare set of 93-95 tail-lights that I have. A few coats of night-shade over the red, a tint over the reverse, a clear coat, and then buying LED bulbs.

IROCZman15 02-13-2007 09:54 PM

i jsut did the "red taillight mod" this weekend, turned out pretty good (where u take the lenses apart, and paint the orange lenses with transparent red) i jsut gotta buff them

as for the tinted lights, i've read that website a year or so ago,and know someone who tried it; tehy said that the clearcoat started cracking,a nd now the lights look bad.. so im not sure about doing that

You can always just spray on some VHT like this guy,

 best color ever

quasar34 02-15-2007 11:21 AM

reminds me of my old maro >=o(, and yes quasar blue = the shiz...

GP99GT 02-15-2007 06:10 PM

just use VHT Nite-shades with clearcoat over it...

http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3...kgroundji3.jpg

3 coats i think, still lit up red, bright enough to see at night with no difficulty. only thing that really suffered was my reverse lights so i put brighter bulbs in them.

Fast92RS 02-15-2007 06:16 PM

nice

deadtrend1 02-15-2007 06:17 PM

you know .... I dont even have anyhting on my lights and they are dark as hell to me. I know its parked in the shade, but even in the sun they are dark.

its a spray on tail light tint. its like spraypaint but its translucent so light still shines through. dries flat black, then you put clear over it and it looks secksy like my GP above.

2+ Years and counting with these RK Sport Black-Outs...

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9...20New/10-3.jpg

I have never had a problem with them.

NJSPEEDER 02-17-2007 09:32 PM

on teh thirdgen camaros the cover definately look better. gets rid of all thsoe aweful edges from the taillights being multi piece.
4th gens i think a just that little bit of tint from nightshades looks best. the design is already smooth and you can lay it on so it isn't as dark as a cover.

CALL911 02-19-2007 08:24 AM

I'm planning on putting a light shade similar to the pics I posted of it on the blue Z above, and then having some clear coat put on on top of it this year.
