HPT or EFI Live. Pocket tuners are ok if you don't plan on doing much, my friend had one on his GTO... and sold it and got HPT.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. A lot of people buy the pocket tuners only to find out that they don't do very much and aren't really worth the money.

foff667 04-28-2008 10:55 AM

Yup, we offer a full tuning suite that will work on your 98 :D

Our software reprograms the factory pcm, with access to 350+ parameters & tables you'll have access over virtuatally every aspect of the pcm including the maf & fuel enrichment tables as well as spark, CAGS, etc.

Our packages also include our scanner which is one of the best on the market at no extra charge.

You can check out more on our website www.hptuners.com

99 pcm's are NOT a direct swap, the pinouts are completely different between the two.

sweetbmxrider 04-28-2008 03:49 PM

say your battery goes dead or is disconnected....do you have to pay for another tune?

HP Tuners does not sell tunes - they sell you tuning software and equipment so you can do them yourself.

sweetbmxrider 04-28-2008 04:38 PM

oh ok. but you still have to retune right? the pcm resets to factory, correct? does anyone offer some sort of compensation a in battery issue case? like a discount

no discount. you do it yourself. it's not a one time use, you can tweak it daily if you wanted.

sweetbmxrider 04-28-2008 05:17 PM

98tadriver 04-28-2008 05:36 PM

I'm not positive about how it is with f-bodies, but I didn't lose my tune with my GTP when I disconnected the battery. In fact, if battery power was required then mail order tunes would not exist.

98tadriver 04-28-2008 05:58 PM

you are correct bill. ive disconnected my battery and had dead batteries before in my trans am and the the tune is still on there when i reconnected.
