Need a hand.

Anyone gonna be around tomorrow at all? I need another set of hands or two to line up the transmission in the car, and get it into place. I had TheHammer out at my house tonight, and my other jerk friend never showed up like he said he would. The car is on a lift, so its not really gonna be a big problem, its just kinda bulky and lining it up isnt the most fun. An hour or two tops. Thanks in advance. Car is in Wrightstown.

Jon

Jon, do you want me to give you a shout when I get home from work in about 30-45 minutes? I'll need directions to your house if you still need help. I just want to catch the Flyers game tonight at 7 so it doesn't leave a lot of time.

If you still need a hand tomorrow I should be able to help for a little while, I just have to go to sears and pick up the tool cart I bought last weekend. After that I was going to work on the Camaro but I didnt have a lot I could do this weekend on it.

bubba428 05-09-2008 08:01 PM

I'd love to come give you a hand, wouldn't be the first trans lol, but the T/A has NO brakes atm so yea....

PolarBear 05-09-2008 08:03 PM

im out today just got done a 16 hour shift figures everytime i offer someone help or dont get much sleep the day before i get stuck at work

PolarBear 05-10-2008 02:16 PM

Yeah I was at work late last night too, 19 hours and I got home at 2:15.
Give me a call if you need help. I might be free later still.

bad64chevelle 05-10-2008 03:18 PM

Put the new pilot in, the trans slid in fine. re checked with the clutch and pressure plate on, and wont go in now. My alignment tool allows a bit of play, so I kept re aligning and still no luck. Clutch fits on the input off the car, so I dont get whats going on.

PolarBear 05-10-2008 04:21 PM

I have found that since the alignment tool does allow for some play I like to have someone in the car ready to push the clutch pedal in when you try stabbing the trans. That way even if the clutch is off a little it moves with the input shaft there

JL8Jeff 05-10-2008 05:24 PM

I had a problem not getting the trans high enough to get it lined up right. But that was because I left the shifter and linkage on when I did the clutch. You might need to let the motor drop down a little so you can definitely get a straight shot in with the trans. I also had the TO bearing pop out of place the first time and that cause difficulty as well. Post up if you're still looking for people to come over and try to help. I'm about to light up a cigar and have a beer so I'll be out in the yard!
