Headlight motors, 2 wires to 3 wires, how do i make it work?

Alright I got a 88 trans am with a 2 wire headlight connection hook up, one green and one grey. I got a junkyard light from what i believe to be a 85 t/a, but the light has 3 wires a blue, green, and a grey. The problem im having is that when the lights are in the off position the light goes up, and when in the on position it goes down. I have the car grey wire going to the motor grey and blue wires, and i have the car green wire going to the motor green wire. I know its confusing, but i know someone out there has made this work. any help appreciated.

sounds like the wires were crossed/reversed...

he used a hammer, duct tape, and a water bottle.

well I am not looking at it right now, but I have a pretty good memory. You have to tie the headlights blue and grey together and connect them to the cars green wire. Then take the green off the headlight and put it straight to the cars grey wire. Thats the combination, you would think that grey would go to grey and green to green, but thats not the case. Maybe next time I will just buy the damn rebuild kit so I can start fixing the P.O.S plastic gears.

Or find a newer style light.

The 3 wire setups were for the older third gens and had a relay system IIRC.

The newer third gens and early 4th gens (never owned a LS1 4th gen so i wouldnt know for sure) use a 2 wire setup and a Headlight control module mounted on the firewall.

Hopefully wiring the 3 wire motor that way doesnt burn out the headlight control module. ;x

Now have both headlights wired like this, no problems for months
