watch your gas tanks...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24779216/

everyone knows with the high gas prices and people going crazy over them...some may decide to rob others to get gas and sell it on the black market and avoid the prices. i know i park my camaro outside all the time im going to keep an eye out or maybe invest in a cap that locks...

...or a knife under my car like mad max did in road warrior :-P

...but keep an eye out

just giving everyone a heads up

r0nin89 05-27-2008 09:38 PM

Ya theres been an increase in locking gas cap sales where I work since this has started. I threw one on mine...

BonzoHansen 05-27-2008 09:38 PM

I keep meaning to get one for my truck.

Knipps 05-27-2008 09:54 PM

wouldnt be suprised...the mall is a very populated area and alot of vehicle thefts occur there. a syphen pump is like 10 bucks at home depot

r0nin89 05-27-2008 10:22 PM

Yep. You can rig one up cheap too. Or do it the old fashoned way and collapse a lung like my stupid friend.

sweetbmxrider 05-27-2008 10:23 PM

you can get a hose with a check valve ball bearing style thing. whack it a few times and itl do the trick!

DaSkinnyGuy 05-28-2008 06:00 AM

you failed the spelling and punctuation mods.

the same thing happened back in the '70s. locking gas caps became the norm, rather than the exception.

you must do a lot of whacking.

deadtrend1 05-28-2008 04:10 PM

locking gas caps can easily be popped off with a flathead. Then just unscrew the lower part and its off.

Had to do it on a pickup here at work cause someone lost the key to it.

I do, mainly because I don't like to heat up my fuel pump any more than need-be and my engine nor myself are a big fan of the water that will accumulate due to condensation from all that open area in the tank.

Yep. I never go below a quarter tank for that reason.

ar0ck 05-29-2008 08:08 AM

I hope they siphon it the old fashion way by sucking it through a tube and they swallow a lot of it.

V 05-29-2008 08:10 AM

Slo86Bird 05-30-2008 11:24 PM

not to mention all of the sediment hanging out at the bottom of the tank. i've been down closer to E than i've wanted to, but i just keep an eye on the filter. anyway, the tank in mine is full, but only because i had to add some things to it  in order to get my car to act right  and to make sure it'll take sitting for a while.

Slo86Bird 05-31-2008 10:49 PM

mines on E for the 3rd time this weekend. i put 30 in and thats gone in 2 days and then i was on E so i put 10 in and im on E again...

Same here, I rarely go below that in the Explorer, but it gets filled up every week so on rare occasions I do. The Camaro, on the other hand, never goes below half, and rarely below 3/4

I can't even remember the last time I went to a gas station and didn't fill up. It's been a few years at least.
