fusable links

i have to find out there all the fuseable link to my 1993 Pontaic Trans Am LT1 are, if any of you guys have dealt with that before, please let me kno. I am staring at one right now and thats on the passenger side up on the shock tower.

thanks guys

could you reword that? there are several fusible links connected to the power distribution post that rest on the passenger shock tower. what is giving you trouble?

CamaroJoe1987 06-15-2009 07:45 PM

im not getting spark to the ignition coil, and the mechanic i know told me to check all the fusable links, and i know where the one is by the shock tower, im just wondering where the rest of them are if anyone else has done that before. im not great with electrical

No spark eh?

Any codes?

sweetbmxrider 06-15-2009 07:51 PM

there should be a bunch of fusible links all connected to that battery junction block. have you checked for power at the coil?

idk yet, im getting the scanner 2morro, im sure ill find quite afew though

No spark = dead ICM,coil or opti.

yea, thirs no power at the coil, i was thinking it might be the ignition control module

sweetbmxrider 06-15-2009 07:56 PM

do you have power going to the icm?

the opti was just put in, brand new, all the plug wires are on correctly, the firing order is right, im thinkin either ICM or ignition coil

sweetbmxrider 06-15-2009 07:59 PM

the icm is grounded through its mounting bracket if i remember correctly. should bolt up to the d/s head and there is a ground strap for that stud. make sure there is dielectric compound between the icm and bracket too.

im not to sure, while I was on the phone with all these part stores and a chevy dealer to get prices, one of my friends was checkin the coil, when he gets out of work and over here, ill ask him and double check everything

On the "A" (Grey) connector of the ECM pin 12 is the IGN coil out wire.

[A12] Ignition Coil W (HOT, connect other black wire on coil to ground) 10A

Check you can voltage at that point, will help determine where in-stream you problem may be. I'd bet you can power at that pin.

Note: It's very rare for something like a fuseable link to fail. Far more common for the Ign module or coil to go and either can go without warning and often neither failing will throw a code.
