chevy 355, 310/360 $2200 30mth/50km warranty basicly im looking for a good bang for the buck direct swap for my 88 as the 305 is just about toast |
why buy rebuilt....go to s/d and get yourself the same motor brand new cheaper....

might as well swap an ls1 in there

It's probably easier in later 3rd gens than an older car, but for ls swaps you have to watch the nickle & dime stuff. New headers/exhaust work, mounts, possible fuel system upgrade, getting the gauges to work, harness modification, tuning costs, etc. You can really blow the budget without even trying if you are not careful. Getting everything (engine, trans, PCM/hanress, etc) makes it much easier.

You can get that for the same price, no shipping (but add sales tax i guess) at fred beans in PA. Your local dealer might match the price too. |
hmm well i was looking at that one cuz it has center bolt heads, which would be correct for my year car and i have the carb manifold for center bolt heads already.... i didnt notice its a reman'd motor wheres it say that?
id love to do an lsx swap but thats just not guna happen at this time, like bonzo's reasons say, i want this in and done with so i can enjoy the car |
its a 355...so i assume its a punched out rebuilt 350
|
All new components, not a rebuilt 350 from the five and dime store... is the 2nd sentence, wouldnt that mean a new motor

lol i know about the scoggin dickey motor being new...thats why i linked it to him....we were talking about the summit 355 that says neither its new or remanned....and taking in the account that its been punched out im sure its not a new motor. |
well im an idiot then
|
i emailed the blueprint engine place directly, we'll see
one piece rear main seal or two piece? |
one piece is good stuff
|
nj85z28 got a 355 for sale in the classifieds here. He is asking $2,500 for it. And it was built by JS Performance.

For the extra $250, the summit motor has larger intake and exhaust valves and Hypereutectic pistons instead of the cast ones in the SDPC motor. I'd also hope for more compression out of the summit motor as opposed to the 8.5:1 SDPC piece.

if its a direct comparison between the 290hp 350 and that blueprint 355 then the 355 hands down, i have no idea about that guys 355 for 2500 though
bigger valves a roller cam and a 1 pc rear main mke that a pretty good price especially compared to the 390/350 but you can probably build a 383 for that price, wont be bulletproof, but if your using it like me it wont have to be lol |
I was just wondering if you ever found a solution for an engine? I have my 305 TPI that I'm looking to replace at some point in the near future and was looking for some options.
Thanks, Matt |
I have a good running SBC for sale. :)

not sure, I know intake bolts changed during the tpi run but I don't exactly know the details. put better heads on and get the right ones :) I also have a set of aluminum L98 heads for sale soon and I think they have the revised intake bolts angles and I think they work with the later TPI intakes.

1. my wife uses the car, so I was hoping to keep it fuel injected 2. inspection, would a factory fuel injected car pass with a carb'd engine? |
85-86 tpi lower intake manifold would fit old heads
only other issue would be flywheel, 1pc vs 2 pc, and if heads have accessory holes |
nope, i never did anything lol sorry
