Internally they should be the same. 00 and newer had upgarded rod bolts, in 01-02 you could have an LS6 block which wouldn't effect the crank/rods. Before I got crazy I would just look for a shortblock on Ebay or LS1 tech. Stockers are getting cheap, alot cheaper then rebuilding a block
