Do all three, the chain, pump and rod bolts....now its cheap and easy. Later it might not be so cheap and defintely won't be easy.

Here's a pic of the stock chain on the left compared to the LS2 Chain on the right and the pic doesn't do justice...the LS2 is worth it...Careful with the balancer bolt on and off.

I've read that the double rollers sometimes require shimming of the oil pump for clearance and that may cause problems with the front cover, I don't know from experience. I do know the LS2 chain goes right on, no problems

I have a balancer install tool for the LS1 if you need it. No worries of stripping crank threads.....
