Have a little experience with gas springs from fabricating opening windshields on my boat, but I am far from an expert on the subject.....

They should have a psi or LBS rating on them. If they are too powerful for the hood, they can bend the mounts, or just make the hood fly up when released. And if too weak, well the hood won't stay up.

See if you can match any numbers from the OEM springs to what you get from work.
