You can check the sender with an Ohmmeter, 1260 Ohms at 100 degrees and 50 Ohms at 260 degrees.
The gauge also has two coils. The green wire is for one coil and varies in resistance based on the sender. The other coil is grounded from circuit 150, it's a black wire and goes through Splice #205 and then to Ground #200. The book says the ground is located behind the IP to the left of the steering column.
