Cadillac only started their climb back to quality in the mid 90s with the creation of the Northstar engine and other assorted technologies. Yes it had its issues too, but it was one of the first to design a motor that could shut down specific cylinders. At the time it was a "limp-home" mode feature when the engine began overheating, not to conserve fuel. The interiors were also a HUGE improvement over the 80's "Cadillacs". I had a 95 STS and it was amazing for the time. Center console dash trim was real wood.

I thought the 8-6-4 was built for fuel economy in the very early 80s?
