Ha, yup! Corey at Camaro Central wanted to do an interview about the car and take some photos after we met last year. They put one of my photos in their company calendar for this 2026 year and were giving out more copies at their booth. On tape I was a motormouth and they had to trim it down from 8+ minutes. Thanks for posting it here , as I don't have facebook or instagram.
As for the Island dragway event on August 2, I would love to go, but we are going on vacation Aug 1 so I will be away during that time period. I do hope its a great turnout and event for sure; Island really must survive, especially with all the uncertainty related to IHRA and Maple Grove. On a sidenote, I think I have decided that before the end of the year, I want to get out to Numidia Dragway with the car and experience another new-to-me track. I know Papmered-Z is/was affiliated with the track so maybe I'll reach out to him in the Fall season.
Camaro Nationals 2026:
I was bummed that I couldn't make it for the 2 day portion, but I was needed at work Friday. I had the car all loaded up and cleaned up so I left home at 5:15 am on Saturday morning. Knowing FULL WELL That there was 95% chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms all day both in NJ and PA. Luckily I left early enough to beat the rain completely, taking a bit of a different and longer route, but I arrived at 7:55 am. The car drove fantastic on the way out there; not one single issue, noise, or weird smell. I had registration number 578 and was told that they had about 650 cars registered by the end of the day Saturday. Outside it was rainy and ultra humid but I walked the showfields 10+ times and ventured inside a few times too. Talked to a bunch of people I knew and got caught up on their projects, and new cars/faces too in the thirdgen realm. Awards were inside because of the weather and this year I got none. The participant vote top 40 gets wacky sometimes!
Drove the car home, multiple pockets of rain, sometimes blasts of wind too, as well as a very long and slow 1 mph crawl uphill on 78 by the Bethlehem exit. Temperatures and pressures were truly perfect the whole ride. Torque converter lockup works great (as expected) on the refreshed yank 3400 converter and highway speeds were awesome. Got home around 8 pm on Saturday (same day) so I did 241 miles of seat time and the car needs nothing except a wash.
