Ive never had a problem with chrome vinyl coming up. The chrome vinyls are more of a metal tape and generally thicker than regular vinyl. The thicker vinyl tends to conform to a shape once it is set.
In my experience, low quality chrome vinyl starts to pit and tarnish with long exposures to sun. I know you take a lot of pride in your work, so I would stay away from pep boys vinyl products haha
