i broke my 10 bolt twice with the stock drivetrain. first time was just driving through a parking lot, i limped it home 4 blocks and the next day i went into my garage and smelled gear oil. it had put a peice of the carrier out through the rear housing.

the second time, apparently the c clip came out or something and the axle was trying to walk out the housing. the first fix was done by a chevy dealership. a second dealership looked at it this time and said it was caused by poor workmanship on part of the 1st dealer. which i believe. 1st dealer wouldnt fix it again so i bought a complete rear off ebay from cali, was like 325 shipped. i sold off all the suspension, brakes, etc from it and made 325 back. lol. i still have that rear in my car to this day but thats why i have 2.3 60' times, i run street tires only.... until i do some changes to that axle

I got you all beat, I broke my 10 bolt while goign to conneticut for racing school. I had a humming noise coming from my rear the first day after class, and finally after school was done I drove back to jersey still with the bad hum, here teeth broke off the ring and got into my bearings, which made them want to seize them up cause my car hada hell of a time trying to get around conneticut cause of the hills and stuff.

The 10 bolt in the car was messed up from the previous owner. Slid the rear into a curb, chipped the rim and the rear made a nsty grinding noise. Still worked though ..
