Last product I buy from Energy Suspension

So i've been trying to get my passenger side motor mount in for no joke, probably around 15 hours at this point. The tabs on the energy suspension mount SHOULD NOT BE THERE. I had to cut one off totally for the motor to drop down all the way. Now one side lines up and the other won't line up no matter what. Now, the tab on the opposite side is in the way. I don't get how they can make a product like this when they claim its a "direct replacement". If I can't get this motor mount in soon, I'm just going to call it quits and sell the damn thing......

			What motor?

I didn't have any problems with mine. The hardest part was getting the factory clamshell apart - the poly mount itself plopped in just fine.

Lt1. Getting the clamshell apart wasn't hard for me....Drilled out the rivets, and it came apart. The poly mount fits in the clamshell fine, but when I let the motor back down it would hit one of the tabs sticking out. Eventually cut that one off, and now the tab on the other side is giving me a problem.

I tried everything. I just can't get the thing to line up. The hole towards the rear of the car is about 1/4-1/2" off and it wont change. I just cant get the thing to line up no matter what I do. I dont get it....

Thats really strange...It makes me think i'm doing something wrong, but I took the entire clamshell out atleast once and I have it right (it doesnt make sense to flip the polyurethane mount around)....I'll eventually get it, i'm just so frustrated and want to get the car started.....

I didn't have any issued with mine either (ls1). I did however need to use the spare tire jack in between the body and the engine to get the last clamshell to line up with the motor mount. Other than that, it was easy.

I'm trying to remember when I did mine but I think I had to cut or grind something to get the mounts to finally line back up.

Well, I took the entire thing back out, cut off all the tabs, and it still wouldnt line up no matter what. I had a friend thats been restoring/working on cars for his whole life help me out, and he couldnt even get it. I dont know what the deal is, but we decided just to put the stock mount back in. Went in no problem. I really think energy suspension made that mount too big for the shell. Its so unforgiving; I tried absolutely everything and it just wouldnt line up. Oh well.....So happy to have the motor hooked back up, now just gotta finish all the odds and ends of the header project!

The mount is bigger than the clamshell so when you bolt the clamshell back together you squish it in.

Yeah....the only problem is that you have no side to side motion with that mount at all. The stock one you can move inside the shell a little to help get the bolt through..

you try getting a piece of sand paper and sanding down the edges of the mount to give you a small bit of play? might work?

Loosen the motor mount pedestal bolts on the k-frame then try and line every thing up. Its much easier then trying to fight with it.

Didn't sand down the mount....might have helped but its too late now unfortunately. I did loosen up the pedestal bolts on the k-frame, didn't work. Also tried to loosen up the mount coming of the engine and that didn't work either....

Man you guys are making me feel bad haha, but there was seriously no way that mount was going in. We'll see how the stock mount holds up.....If theres a problem with it i'll look into replacing it with the energy suspension one AGAIN.

My car was hit on the passengers side when the past owner had it (evidenced by the repair marks in the fender). My buddy said that maybe the k-member is a little tweaked, making it extremely tough to line up a mount that fills up the entire clam shell....Who knows. Alls I know is that there was absolutely no way.....

At least you are bolting it back together. A few years back when I put new mounts in my '78Z clamshells they gave zip ties to keep it together. No ****.

Yup, same with how mine are. Zip ties to get it close, then a bolt to close it up.

Thats how the Lt1 f-body ones are too...Have to zip tie them together before bolting them to the k-member....Guess we'll see how the motor feels with one stock mount and one ES mount....

I had problems with those mounts as well. They made my engine sit too high, it was about a 1/4" too high and it made my y-pipe hit the body and my intake would hit the strut tower bar and the windsheild wiper motor, I put the stock set back in and no problems.
