COMPUTER GEEKS INSIDE

About a month ago my laptop bit the big one so ive been computerless besides using my itouch but that is rapidly giving me headaches and is pissing me off. A buddy of mine gave me an old tower of his to use. I installed a Wireless card i had lying around from a different desktop my brother was building. The computer works flawlessly but wont connect to my network. It see's the network but shows it to have a very weak signal and will NOT ever connect. Now, i kno i get wireless in my room since im on it right now with my dads laptop and it says i have perfect signal.

My question is how do i fix this? i need a computer. Do i need a better card? Is it something else? Im looking for a quick fix lol considering im outta work and slowly going insane staring at my walls with no internet.

-Thanks in Advance, Adam

I gotta few usb wireless cards(with 3-4 ft extension cables) from before I lost my job at comcast. You can have one and try to see if it helps for the desktop. Im using one right now on my desktop and it flies.
Connection and speed also depends on a few factors tho. Like my cheap window blinds use that thin sheet metal, well they kill my signal when the card is near it, but when I pull them up the signal is the best out of any area in the room, just sitting on the edge of my window.
Also depends on electronics and metal items interfering with the signal to the card(probally being directly behind the desktop with lots of obstructive items around) compared to the laptop which has nothing around it to obstruct the signal.

Tried to explain it as well as I could, I cant sleep lately and its 5 am so I hope it helps.

who's wireless card is it? netgear? something else? usually, my netgear will let me connect to any host, but it likes the netgear stuff better and since i don't have a password on my router, it connects and i'm online in a matter of seconds. did you look for the latest drivers for the card?

If you think it may be the car I got a few of these lying around. Alot better than pci cards because you are able to move them around for the best signal.
