This.
Your gf will like Ninja NY, unless she hates Japanese food. The restaurant is styled after a Ninja dungeon and everything is themed after it. I haven't met a woman who hated the place, yet. You will have to take a cab down town though. Nobu next door is also nice (also doesn't require a month in advance reservations unlike Nobu..).

Less than 60 bucks for two (including tip), in Manhattan? Um... Perhaps Bonzo has ideas.

get a snack there and go somewhere nice when you get home? your 60 bucks would most likely go a LOT further in your area than in nyc

In NYC? That will barely pay my bar bill. Street vendors FTW!

Look around on Yelp and Timeout NY for good cheap eats. They exist. Pay the coin for a taxi, and get something unique instead of fancy. I've had good eats in Manhattan on the cheap before, a place called S'mac comes to mind. If you have a car there, drive out to BK and get some grub in Williamsburg or Park Slope. It's much cheaper, and they have some interesting stuff. If its nice, take a stroll.
I'm in grad school with barely any income, and I live in Queens for now. I used to go out often and rarely spent more than $20 on a meal. Drinks on the other hand is another story.

Just my rebel xti with a couple quick lenses. Some shots have an external flash as well but most don't. I also shot wide open for the most part and varied the ISO to compensate for some darker areas. There is a good amount of lighting on most of the cars though.
