difference between the GTPs trans (4T65E-HD) and a non-supercharged 3.8 trans (4T65E) is the HD has a stronger differential and one of the axles is shorter...

97-98 GTPs have a few differences. 99+ has a revised coolant overflow bottle for instance...so try to get a 99-up, the newer the better basically.

they all use the same eaton M90 supercharger. s/c bearing/coupler is somewhat common on them but not a hard thing to replace, and its easy to tell if one youre looking at buying needs one - the supercharger will rattle like crazy

yeah i knew there was a reason the 2000 and ups were better....most ive heard is that the older ones need work on the snout more often than the newer ones..the coolant is new to me. and yeah sc bearing rattles are easy to hear...

minder....if anyone is gonna redo their sc fluid....wait till its completely cool..the sc is super pressurized and will spray if hot.

local airfields have awesome fluids used for s/c's

ford has synthetic blower fluid. good stuff. expensive.

My fiance has a 2000 gtp with 108,000 miles on it. Runs fantastically.....has a lot of work done to it also.....the only problem with the 2000 and newer ones is that they are being recalled for some fire issue but if ur looking at a 99 ur good.....one of the best cars I've owned. And I've owned A LOT lol

Forgot about that. It's not just 2000+ cars, it's all of them with the S/C 3800. The front valve cover gasket can leak oil onto the manifold and cause a fire.

Saw a 70k mile Cobalt SS/SC modded go for $8500 not too long ago, although I'm not sure if you would be interested in one of those, they get decent gas milage & can be fun little cars. If you are seriously interested in a GTP mine has about 82k on the clock and I've been looking to sell for a while now.

little update: havent found anything, the GTP w/56k miles wasnt what i expected. little problems added up to not being interested: no underhood heat insulation, interior was pretty worn for a car w/56k looked more like 100k, little oil on the radiator support, along with the timeline of the history of the car the guy gave me was scattered and didnt make any sense... too much goin on that I had questions about... the search continues

anyway, im starting to look at ls1/6spds with 90k miles and lower and lt1/6spds with 75k and lower. so if anything turns up, let me know about them im sure you guys are on the boards where these are posted more than I am.

To the guys who replied with their cars:
mark and bonz...not really interested, appreciate it though
bill... i PM'd you... check your pms
