Thumbs up Decent Day @ Pontiac Day-Raceway Park!

Went to Pontiac Day and it was quite a smaller showing than they usually have. I won the 1st place in my class (in the car show) because I was the ONLY car in there.
The P4 class in the Drag racing was a little better. I went thru 5 rounds to take the Eliminator Winner trophy.
At the end, the track photographer took a picture of me with the Bird, my son Darren and Miss High Performance Pontiac Magazine (hot) for a future issue on the 31st Pontiac Day.
Last was having Tom DeMauro (editor of High Performance Pontiac) ask me to do a photo shoot for a future issue as a featured car!
It was also great meeting some of the faces from the club there. Thanks for the compliments guys.

Congrats Ed! It's a shame you didn't have more competition in the show, but cool that you came away with a pair of wins and a magazine feature article in the works.

Decent day Ed? I'd say you had a pretty good day. Good to see you and Steve too.

Here are some random shots from the show today...

Nice to meet you Ed!

Steve, I didn't actually see your car stopped, ever, so I couldn't find you...but I did get some shots/vids of your car haha

TAdan, you threw me off by not showing...I was looking for your car since you said you were going to go! I'm uploading my pics/vids now and will start a thread in multimedia when they're done. Very sparse showing.

And about the weather - we hit some spots of drizzle/rain on our way home, maybe just because we stopped to watch the drifters on our way out.

Thanks, they arent too common, although I remember the old SLP customer appreciation days would bring out several of them.

I didnt bring my 84 because it is not much to look at, unless you like faded paint and rust, although it would have been a solid 2nd place contender vs. Ed in the show today.

I wanted to go but ended up having to work yesterday.
How does this show compare to the Pontiac day at Atco?

The ENTIRE event at ATCO (the Fall Nationals in November) has a much better crowd of Pontiac's in the car show and in the Drag classes.

The only thing I find at shows that are judged, is that they spend an average of about 1 minute looking at your car. Problem is that there are few judges to look at too many cars which makes for speed spotting. On the other hand, if you allow peer judging, a ratty 1967 Firebird could take the top award because of the age.

They sprayed the entire track down around 10:15 am and about 5 minutes later I was the FIRST car down the track.

Out of the hole, the tires lit up like I was on antifreeze. I drove down the track at 40 mph and when I got back to the car show area I noticed that the fender area behind my passenger rear tire was covered with black sticky gunk. I had to wait until I got home to use tar remover and about 6 rags to clean all the s**t off. I asked several of the cars that were behind me and they all had the same problem. Really stupid of the track not to have sprayed it much earlier so that it could set up and dry.
