Bodykits

Hey all,

Anybody have any experience good or bad with bodykits such as fitment and quality? Which ones work and which don't. Anybody use the Duraflex units?

I know they have no aero benefits so it is just for looks.

I am considering a Sniper Kit or at least the front cover.

Any advice would be great.

cheap brands tend to have poor fitment. most people (including myself) will make fun of you for putting a body kit on a car like ours that is designed for performance.

Work in terms of what? Actual aero improvement or just talking about fitment?

there a plenty of people on there who do similar things to their cars and will show more appreciation. i don't like bodykits, but i'm just trying to get this person in the right direction for what info he is seeking.

have you ever installed a body kit? bought one? if not, why bash him. sure its your opinion, but its not helping answer the question. sometimes its just silly to bash everyone especially a new member, it won't help club growth.

in my experience, as in, a person with eyes that has seen many cars with body kits, they look like rice, and they look gay.

in my experience helping out at body shops, and having friends in the import world, they fit like ****, the manufacturers aren't helpful and they are rice and gay

i didnt bash him, i didnt say "you are rice/gay" did i? he asked about the body parts, and i answered about the body parts, so maybe im guilty of bashing body kits, but oh ****ing well.

this is a much more informative post. just saying rice/gay is very bland. i know your father is in the auto repair field and you have plenty of experience there. im sure you could clean the post up and really help this guy out to save him his well earned money. personal experience is the best tool in the business.

i love the RS kit on a 4th gen Z28 and i love the Y87 kit on a 4th gen v6 firebird.... most aftermarket kits that dont resemble the factory RS/Y87's do look like RICE

What year and type car?

Seen a few for the 4th gen camaros that weren't too bad, others are just too much. No need for ground scrappers and most add wings that are just way too large! But something that adds to the basic lines of the car without making it look like cartoonish.

Here's a link that covers alot of paint of body upgrades for 4th gens.

I like the style of Mechan's. I would love to have their rear spoiler, too bad their stuff is actaully JUNK!

BTW, most any kit/part is going to need some work, nothing kits right out of the box!

Won't get much love for body kits here! If it didn't come from the factory it probably doesn't belong.

I am actually a fan of the Xenon body kits made for 98-02 camaro. The sniper kit, is hideous, and im sure 95% of fellow enthusiasts will think so as well. You will be boo'ed your way out of online forums for installing it. Just a little warning for ya

Thanks for the info and link. Working on a 1996 Z28. I agree nothing cartoonish but something that compliments or enhances the basic lines. I do realize they will not fit perfect out of the box. Thanks again
