Damn thats what i was going to do, i was going to just get the whole kit from efi connections to make my life alittle easier. It's something i want to address in the not so distant future. I have bigger things on my plate with this car and the other car that are approaching. Next winter while im working on the 02' SS i may take this apart and do the swap. I really just want to hear from people that did it, that it was the best thing they have done. I also really need to get it back on the road and get it tuned, then go from there.

If you have any sense in your head, the repin is very easy. (granted I can't say my harness works yet ) The hardware kit and sensors run you bout $600, and the repin kit is a $100, then you need a LS1 pcm, coils, and coil harnesses. I am doing it on my build, just strictly because finding a competent LT1 tuner is entirely too difficult these days.

I would make them tune it, if they said they could then don't let them get out of it.

Does the hardware kit include water pump, dampener, and crank case cover? Also do i keep the coil that is on the motor or does that get replaced as well? Also does the icm need to be changed?

Uh, what?

The setup just removes the opti, ICM, stock coil, and LT1 PCM.

Then you run a cam sensor, crank sensor, LS1 PCM, and coils. If you have 1996 cover you are fine, since the crank sensor is already there.

Off the topic post here, i picked up a few more item for the car while its been off the road. Got new hid head lights and high beams. New oem z28 badges, and 30th anniversary floor mats. Also decieded to rewire my high beams so they stay on when the fog lights are on. I should have no problem seeing at night now.

No prob, just threw me off a little. Check out blackbirdws6's build thread, he got the full kit from them and it is certainly a very well setup harness and kit.

If you have the money and time, def get their harness, brand new stuff > old OE harness

I will definitely check out his build. I will most likely put the car into storage this fall, roll with what i have for next summer, and when the car gets put away for the following winter, it will come apart then. Thanks man

The EFI Connection kit was def one of the best choices for my build. Are you working with a standard timing chain or did you move to a double roller? The only tricky part is making sure the reluctor wheel is lined up with the crank sensor in the timing cover. Speaking of which, I didn't notice but if you have a pre-96 LT1, you will need the 96-97 timing cover or splurge and buy the TPIS covers they sell.

Tommy at east coast supercharging is well versed in lt1s. I'm sure they won't have any issue tuning it if you go 24x.

Depending on the double roller, you may be fine with the 24x reluctor wheel. Worst case, you get a different timing set. I use the Cloyes 9-3145 which works just fine with the 24x system.

Tommy is the person who sugested i go to the ls coils and pcm. He informed that not only is the lt1 software outdated the ls pcm can be tuned easier, it also can handle far more demands then lt1 firering system which tends to cut out at higher rpms. He referred to running an old computer operating system (windows 98 ) in a higher demanding pc. The analogy made sence.

Makes sense sure, but, the LT1 has been running 9s since 1996 or whenever, and they do it with the stock, "outdated" LT1 PCM...

Easier for tuners means less time they need to spend on it, and more money made. You have a very basic setup, it really shouldn't be an issue.

More overhead though having lt1 tuning software and corresponding cables. If you can afford it, nothing wrong with converting to 24x.

I don't completely agree with that, a cable is maybe $80 and the entire program to tune is again, maybe what, $60? Compared to HPtuners where one credit is $100 and that doesn't get you the program.

IDK, it irks me that a shop said they could do it no problem, and now is trying to push you into a new LS1 system that they can tune easier.

Adam's car was dyno tuned with an LT1 computer and even with the new cam, is on a mailorder, and still runs great.

Hundreds of cars verses like a couple lt1s a year, yes it is more cost effective. I think your prices are off too.

Just wanted to mention, east coast superchargers wanted nothing to do with the lt1 tuning, informed me (tommy) that if the software was changed to the ls1 software they would do the tune. Tunetime said they would do the tune with no problem. Only problem i see is the dyno being that it is a mustang dyno im going to get lower readings as compared to a dyno jet.

Have you given any thought to calling up Brian at PCMforless for a dyno tune?

Do you want a good tune, or a high dyno number?

Everybody knows big dyno numbers trump driveability!

Well if i could have it my way I wish I could have two tunes...1st one being a high tune for the track, and the 2nd for drivable. I want to see what numbers this motor can put down. Do the math i should be able to put 440 rwhp but who knows what a good driving tune numbers would look like.
