I run the pacesetter uncoated headers. I bought them used for $150 shipped and they were painted with 2000* high temp paint. There is a little surface rust but after a year I am still happy with my purchase...

Most all long tubes will give you issues and there are ways to resolve them. I prefer stainless steel headers but they can get expensive for good quality ones that won't turn to hell in a few months. Plenty of cheapos on ebay too.

Do you care about passing inspection? What power are you planning to make?

The stainless doesn't rust to hell, it discolors. Pending what grade stainless you get will determine how bad they will dull out and discolor or not. Stock k does require some cutting and they come close to the frame for some people. You have to move the steering column over via the three bolts inside the car and just reuse the two slotted ones. I would throw in new poly motor and trans mounts too for clearance help. Get some quality arp header bolts, I believe the 1 inch is what you want with the half inch flanges the stainless headers have.

ARP 400-1209

Smaller head for better clearance around the primaries, 1" long, and stainless steel.

Stainless Works makes an absolutely fantastic set of stainless steel headers for the LT1 cars. They fit like a dream and require no modifications to the stock K member or anything else to fit in.. Plus the ground clearance is much better than the Pacesetters and other "cheaper" manufacturers.

We a dealer for SW so we could do install and tuning for you as well so all you would have to do is drop off the car (no parts hunting necessary).

The quality speaks for itself.. You get what you pay for..

Personally I don't like the look of rusty headers under my hood.. Coating only delays the enevitable...

I have BBK Long Tubes on my LS1 car and they are Chrome. They have been on the car for 15 months now and have no rust of any sorts. They cost around 350.00 from WS6 store I believe and came with a Y-pipe as well. Stock ride height and no scraping issues. Dont know if they make them for LT1's.

WS6Store shows only shorty BBKs for the LT1s (for $400).

Jeff - could you post a pic of those headers as they look on the car now? Not trying to deny your no rust claim by any means, just never had a chance to see what a set of these look like after being on a car for a while.

Yeah. I can take a pic of them tomorrow. Keep in mind that my car is garaged and only gets driven on the weekends.. I have put about 4000 miles on it this past year. I have taken it out during the winter and have been out in rain storms as well. When I wash it I pretty much always clean the engine bay and under the car..

1st pick is Driver side and the nxt 2 are passenger. Sorry about the quality. The pics do no justice. These headers still look brand new. They are the chrome ones and were under 400.00 from WS6 store and that includes y-pipe..
