Short notice E-town runs Friday June 15th...
I hate throwing stuff up like this last second, but it may give some a chance to go. I (and a few others) am headed up to Englishtown on Friday June 15th. I plan on getting there when the doors open at 5pm, but will probably be there at least until 7-8pm. Hopefully the weather holds out, and we don't get rained out. There is a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon there, but that means to me there is a 70% chance it will be good to race!
I really wanted to go to Atco tonight (Thursday the 14th), but it was closed to full drag cars for the big NHRA event there this weekend .
Anyone who wants to join me and the others are welcome. I hope to see anyone or everyone there

Yeah, if it rains I'll be really upset because I won't be going either. But as the forecast says, it should be okay.

Thanks Rob. Hopefully everything works out so I can get some good runs in finally. If it doesn't rain, it should be an excellent night to go. Only 68 degrees and 50% humidity levels are forecasted for when the gates open at 5.

The weather will be good! Just checked it and it will be just overcast the rest of the night!
Anyone know how strict E-town is as far as track regs go? I will probably be running a low 11, or a high 10, and I don't have a cage. At what point will they kick me out? The reg states anything faster than a 11.5 and you must have a cage. But some tracks don't really enforce it until you run a 10.9 or so. Is E-town this way? Or will I expect to run a bad launch of 11.3 and get kicked out?

Well, I'm never going to E-town again. I just got back, and I really don't have much good things to say other than the track is setup very nicely. I almost got kicked out before I even got in the staging lanes to begin with. First they said my helmet had expired (didn't know it had an experiation date on it in the first place), then they told me since I had an aftermarket supercharger, I had to have a fire jacket (I ended up borowing one from a Turbo Civic owner), and then he told me my car might be to loud, and I might get kicked out before I started! He let me slide with my helmet since he said it just expired last year.
After all that non-sense this was my first time running my car with the supercharger and slicks, so I figured I would need practice. Sure enough, my first run as soon as I tried the burnout, the car slid sideways and I had to let off the gas. I tried it again with the same result. By this time the guy was already screaming at me to hurry up and get to the line. So, I proceeded with cold slicks to the line. I launced decent (for cold slicks), and as soon as I threw it in 2nd the car got sideways and I had to get out of it. I jumped right back in the throttle as soon as the car straightened, and I stayed in it all the way until 4th where the car started to get loose again and I had to get out of it, until it straightened out, and then I got back into it. Round 1 results, 1.9 60' time, 12.2 @122.
After waiting 4.5 hours of bike wreck, after car explosion, after coolant leak on the track I got to make one final run as it was 10:45 and the track closed in 15 minutes (I got there when they opened at 5pm!). I got a much better burnout, but could've done a better launch as I spun pretty bad. I didn't have to get out of the throttle at all, but I granny shifted into 5th (first time going down the track I had to use 5th gear!), and the end results from my night was another 1.9 60' time, and a 11.5 at 127.
Long story short, I have video of both runs I'll post up later (first run in the car, and second run outside the car). I will be going to Atco from now on, where they don't care as much, and it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to get in, plus I don't have to put up with all the hassle.

As displeased as I was with the track, I am happy I finally did get to run my car. It is good to have a baseline. I really just need more practice on my car with the slicks. Its amazing how my drag radials hook up on the street without spinning even in 1st gear, and at the track, even with slicks I have traction issues. I know some of that was the fact I didn't get a proper chance to heat them up. I'll probably be going to Atco the last week of June.

Just get the cage installed and go to island. I got there 30min after racing started yesterday(focking 517 was shut the eff down ) and proceeded to make 6 passes with two ~hour-long breaks from running. Also, even on a street night, there were a few slick cars in the mid-low 10 second range lifting tires = kickass track prep.

Yea, ETown sucks cause it brings out all the bad element. There was one guy in a Civic who blew a hose and shot coolant all over the track, but worst of all is that he kept going all the way down, so the cleanup took like all freakin day!

That and waiting on the clean up of when the two bikes wrecked at the end of the track... Yeah, I pretty much paid to run twice, and wait all night.
If I get a cage, I will be crossing the line in my car from a street car I can have passengers sit in the back seat, to a drag car. The whole focus on my car was to keep it a street car that I would take to the track every once in a while. Thats how I plan on keeping it. Besides, Atco is pretty leaneant anyways, so I expect I could run low 11's and not get thrown out. All I am aiming for is my 10 second slip, and then it will be all for fun

Not that I am defending ricers, but there were some fast Honda Civics there. One went up against me my first run where I did 12.2 and he beat me! Another was running a low 11 all night! I hate rice as much as the next guy, but I have to admit, thats pretty impressive to turn a 18 second car into a 11 second car!
BTW, I am currently uploading my runs onto video. I'll post them up for all to see soon.

It's not only the inspection and long wait that upset me. It was also the fact that the track preperation sucked. I can hook up in first gear with cold Nitto DR's on the street. On the track (during my second run) after heating the slicks up pretty good, I still was sliding even in 3rd gear.
Its Atco for me from here on out.

I have actually had it for years, but just recently installed it with the help of Fastbird93 (who coincidently enough was the one calling my phone during the end of my first run which you can hear in the video).

I got it from LPE (Lingenfelter Performance Engineering) years ago. I'm not sure if they even still sell it. I belive I spent $350 on it. I took it to a countless number of shops asking for an install, and one by one they shook their heads saying they didn't feel comfortable doing it. Fastbird and I used my buddies 4 inch thick GM manual, and ripped apart the dash one afternoon, and started splicing wires. It was a royal PITA, but the install was successfull.
Other than the fact it sits on top of the dash, and seems like it is in the way, it is really sweet to have. It tracks top speed past the speedo's 150MPH mark (which is why I originally purchased it), and will show RPM, MPH, or MPH with blue dots signifying your RPM.
The HUD was made by a company called "Defi". Hopefully this was the info you were looking for.
