Auto/ 6 spd

How hard / expensive is it to change a 6 spd car to an auto? Are autos easy to find used with a converter? This would be for an 98-02 street car. Thanks!

What car and model year are you talking about?
And it's a lot easier when you find someone who wants to trade components with you

It would be easier to grab a auto harness, but you could pin in the 4L60E harness to the PCM relatively easy.

I'm not sure i want to go through with the swap. Selling the car and getting an auto seems like my easiest option.

in Adam's case...this is true.

ELLE. if all parts in hand, swap only takes a couple hours.

A couple hours? That's from T56-->4L60E? or both ways?
I remember hearing 24 hours, some cutting, and a few thousand.

Something I'd love to do (T56 swap), but the headache involved, and potential for gremlins/quirks, has always been a deterrent.

3 hours? Does that include running cooler lines, changing the radiator, ECM & harness changes, etc.?

Cooler lines are braided with fittings, radiator has since been taken out of the loop, ECM changes for a auto to auto?

If you are good with patience, adding in the 60e harness plug with VSS is very simple, and then a simple reflash of the PCM to add shift tables. If you are swapping transmissions, that should the easiest part. I am not 100% on the shifter mounting points, but like all things GM I would assume the chassis has provisions for both setups.

Swap over tailshaft crossmembers and there you go, of the many questions asked round here, this one doesn't seem to be the worst.

Just don't swap in a stock trans and 'verter, you will hate yourself later on.

Not for the swap, he means to have one down and out. Apparently he's the Lane Frost of the 4L60-E rodeo.
