no outsourcing the work, you're getting your hands dirty!
and its possible to do valve seals too, but it would be easier to do it if the heads were off the motor. If you really want, we can take the whole top end off the motor and I'll bring my valve spring compressor and do the valve seals for ya.
I actually have a valve/valve seat grinding machine in my garage, but if you want anything like that done, you're gonna have to pay me

matt, about the rims: they are AR five spoke 16" black with a chrome beauty ring. you'll see them eventually and if you want them, they're yours for the asking. i might even help you refinish them.
about the cold: yeah, but i still need to get from my house to the car and then from the car to your garage. ever see the cartoons when they freeze someone who was running, then slow motion, then motionless? yeah, that's me in the cold.

It would be cheaper to just buy a new set of heads.

personally, I wouldnt be throwing a ton of money at your 305. Leave the heads, just clean them up. unless you can score some better heads for cheap, then go for it. If I were in your shoes, I'd be busting my ass trying to make money and save it all up and buy a big inch small block crate motor 8)

The vette L98 heads are 58cc, not 53 (stock heads on your 305 are 58cc). If you can score a set for cheap, there is no reason not to use them. They are a much better design than the heads you have, and they will retain your stock compression ratio. The regular L98s or vortechs would cause a slight drop in your compression ratio (they are a 64cc chamber), which would offset some of the power gain that you would see from adding the better heads.
What cam do you have for the 305?

I'm gonna come out and say it. Your car isnt the best platform to build a performer out of. I'm not saying the motor and chassis are to blame, but rather the amount of miles and the fact that you rear ended someone. You really would be better off building up a car that is already fast.
