Fuel problem need help

About 4 days ago my fuel gauge stopped working. it just stays at past full....what broke?? and what do i need to do to fix it? ...o BTW i drive a 93 Z28 ...would like some help guys lol

did you just fill it up? they tend to read past full on a full tank of gas for a little bit, then start cruisin down quick.

possible that you filled up and the float in the tank got stuck and its reading full all the time... if thats the case you can try to bang on the bottom of the tank with a closed fist to try and knock it down... never done this before but seem like a common sense way fix it with out dropping the tank ( have heard of floats getting stuck though)

I had this issue with my durango once, and did as mentioned, banged the hell out of the bottom of the tank and problem solved.

yeah i tried hitting it with a rubber hammer and it didnt move...prolly just ganna save up and do an LS1 gas tank swap

Sounds like a wasted sending unit. Happened to my GP. No amount of banging will fix it.

Yeah on my 95 T/A when I fill the tank it stays above the full mark for about 160 miles or so then it starts dropping and it will never get to the "E" mark. Yes I ran out of gas and I was an an 1/8 tank lol. I'm sure mine will be going one day but I just keep an eye on my mileage. Once I start getting close to the 210-215 mark its time to fill it.

if i swap to an ls1 tank do i just need the tank and sending unit?
