Unhappy 1985 Trans Am Gauge Cluster

Need some advice on an issue with a Guage Cluster on my 1985 Trans Am. Last season, my Tachometer stopped working. The cluster has seperate gauges, Speed, Tach, Oil/Volts and Fuel/Temperture.

The Tach needle just stopped moving, everthing else in the cluster is working.

So I bought another gauge cluster from a 1985 Trans Am 305 on eBay from a good seller. I removed the Tachometer, which is an exact match as mine, installed the new one, 3 screws and it is out, and it works.

The issue is that the needle is more like 15K RPM and my car is set to apprx, 7K RPM. That a big difference and know for sure thwhere the idle needle should be since it is mostly stock. The car idles well and is not racing as the tach shows.

I disconnected the Battery for a few minutes and reconnected it back, thinking it would re-set, but no change.

Not sure what the issue can be before I have the Cluster taken out and rebuilt by Eastern Electronics in Hackensack NJ.

Is there something else I can do ????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rob

you mean to say 12k or 1200? and 7k or 700?

personally, i dont think an auto 305 idles at 700, or at least shouldnt

edit...i assumed its an auto, my mistake, i think i recall u saying once before its a t5, cuz i have an 85 iroc 305/t5
